All of this in one of the friendliest and most complete wedding and special occasion apparel stores in the region. The recently renovated East 4th Street location features more than 150 one-of-a-kind gowns and dresses in a setting that offers five two-person dressing rooms, two lady sitting areas, a complete man cave plus a place for the kids in the BethCarter Baby side of the store. Owner Beth Carter explained that offering wedding, prom or party dresses with "no two alike is very important for girls. We also offer private areas for fitting and many times two or three girls to pull dresses and show inventory." "First impressions are important, along with having the best inventory, but service is really number one," according to husband Earl Carter, who is usually behind the scenes with the books and cleaning equipment. He added, "We had been looking at this idea for about three years and made the decision to buy and renovate the former Wedding Apparel store this past June 15." He added, "We're pleased to say that compliments to the staff for their help have been numerous during the short time they have been in business." Beth said, "There have been girls searching out certain dresses and fi nding them here, one from California." Beth added, "We had one girl from Virginia who located a dress she had been looking for." In addition to Beth, the shop offers professional help from Lauren Sergesketter, an experienced certified international wedding planner. Also on the floor are Christine Buening and Annie Ferguson, along with seamstresses Brenda Black and Melissa Pleiss. Earl said all the amenities are offered in a very spacious store that includes iPads for viewing inventories and available offerings. The store is furnished for guys and gals, with the man cave featuring cold drinks and TV, while the gals have privacy in separate areas for viewing, dressing and lounging. The bridal offerings include seven lines of gowns, bridesmaid, mother, junior bridesmaids, flower girls plus tuxedo rental and sales. The staff is "really into prom" with a January 19 Prom and Style Show at the Old Huntingburg Town Hall. Area school girls will be modeling the latest offerings beginning at 2 p.m. that day. Beth said they offer walk-in or phone service for all the bridal, prom and special occasion needs, including a large offering of Quinceanera dresses. Beth and Earl travel to Chicago for wedding inventory and Atlanta for the World of Prom. The children's portion of the store is stocked through the Indianapolis market, according to the couple. Wedding dress makers include Allure, Mori Lee, David Tutera, Venus, Christina Wu, Jordan, Sincerity and WToo by Watters. Prom offerings include Allure Nightmoves, Sherri Hill, Mori Lee, Tiffany, Hannah S, Splash and Wow. Monogrammed wedding accessories and gifts are on display in several locations throughout the welcoming expanse of the store. An important feature in the store is that all of the fashions are current and nothing for sale older than recent 2013 designs. A second door on the 324 East 4th Street store front is for the newborn to 24 month apparel shop, which also includes Under Armor clothing through T4. Christmas stocking stuffers and IU and UK clothing can be found there and include free gift wrapping. A play area with TV and kids' movies is part of the Baby side of Beth Carter. There is also a line of christening gowns and baptism gifts. Both shops are open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Saturdays are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sundays by appointment. The store staff is available at 812-683-3777 and at www. bethcarter.us.
