Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Soci- ety to film the fourth season of the award-winning series. Cameras will follow new and returning crew members A/Pine Ridge Grocery B/Smoker Friendly 1 x 4 as they go to great lengths to stop Japanese whalers from killing the majestic creatures within the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. The new campaign, dubbed Operation No Compromise, is the society’s seventh whale defense expedition. Its pur- pose is to send a message to the Japanese government that it will not make a deal to legal- ize whale killing in the protect- ed habitat. ”Just what is it about this word ‘sanctuary’ that people don’t understand?” said Wat- son. “Sanctuary means no kill- ing, it means protection, it means refuge, it means asy- lum, and we intend to protect the whales within the sanctu- ary with all the resources available to us.” The society’s two ships, the Steve Irwin and the Bob Bark- er, are scheduled to be in Ant- arctic waters from now until the end of February, but the network won’t begin airing the new episodes until early June 2011. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is devoting the month of Feb- ruary to Oscar once again, and celebrating the pinnacle of film awards with a unique theme and many new films on the reel. The annual “31 Days of Os- car” festival will fill the short- est month of the year with a whopping 340 Academy Award-nominated and -win- ning films, many of which will be grouped into trivia-inspired marathons. Hosted by TCM’s Robert Os- borne, the event will also fea- ture actress showcases for such greats as Janet Gaynor, Loretta Young, Ingrid Berg- man, Marilyn Monroe, Julie Andrews and Cathy Burns. The month will also see TCM’s foreign film collection expand with first-time airings of Hiroshi Teshigahara’s Benson 1 x 5 A/Van’s Auto B/Nicole’s Family Dining 1 x 3 B/Maury’s Restaurant 1 x 3 “Woman in the Dunes” (1964), Constantine Costa- Gavras’ “Z” (1969), Jean- Charles Tacchella’s “Cousin, Cousine” (1975), Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1990) and Krzysz- tof Kieslowski’s “Three Colors: Red” (1994). Three beloved Best Picture winners -- 1933’s “Caval- cade,” 1984’s “Amadeus” and 1994’s “Forrest Gump” -- will also make their TCM debuts during the festival, as well as other nominated favorites such as “Pretty Woman” (1990), “Thelma & Louise” (1991), “Do the Right Thing” (1989) and “Ali” (2001).
