Humpy had 8.30 for a total weight and he had a 3.95 largemouth, which was big bass of the day. John Black and Roger McNeilly had 6.40 and took second with James Osborne and Ray Hembree landing in third with 5.95. This week the geezers will be on Lake Wylie. The temperatures this week should help fishing and make it easier for the fishermen as well. MOSS Only ten boats made the weekly Thursday night bass tournament on Moss Lake last week. Again the potential of storms and low catches seem to have detoured anglers from making this a part of their weekly fishing plans. Matt Arey and Les Dulin got the win with 2.80. Walt Brysick and Charles Bridges had 2.51 and were second with Reggie and Johnny Guffy third with 2.37. Rounding out the top 4 was Arnold Ledford and Brent Shytles with 2.34. Big bass was a 2.80 brought in by the winning team of Arey and Dulin. CCBC The Cleveland County Bass Club fished Lake Hickory last weekend and saw tough fishing. Tom Mayhew took first with 7.02 followed by Ray Hembree with 6.82. Chuck Camp had 4.72 and Roger Beaver had 4.62 for third and fourth respectively. Fifth went to Tyler Hensley with 4.60. Big bass was a 3.80 largemouth brought in by Roger Beaver. September will find the CCBC on Fishing Creek. Bass Caster The Bass Casters fished Lake Wylie over the weekend and they too so tough fishing. Terry Knight got the win with 9.14 followed closely by Mark Swink with 9.13. Mitch McCracken had 8.11 and took third with Bubba Sprouse getting fourth with 7.13. Jordon Spangler had 5.15 and landed in fifth. Big bass was a 3.12 largemouth brought in by Bubba Sprouse. It will be my fi rst trip there. I am looking forward to experiencing temperatures that are rang- ing from the mid forties in the mornings to the mid seventies in the afternoon. That place must be beautiful right now. What I am not looking forward to is the nineteen hour road trip. It will be an uncom- fortable two days of traveling just to get the opportunity to hunt black bears. And still my success is not assured. The prob- lem with the drive is not really the hours on the road but the bigger cities that I’ll have to drive through just to get there. And then there is always hitting those areas at rush hour. What is looming in my mind is the area around New York City. My guide tells me to stay west or I’ll get sucked into its clutches. I can imagine a country boy from the Tri-State area of Kentucky, Ten- nessee, and Virginia, getting stuck in the middle of Brooklyn or somewhere, with a gun, knife and a bumper sticker on his truck that says “will hunt for food.” Some- thing tells me there is nothing good that could come from this situation. I think I’ll try to stay west. (Maybe drive to Michigan and head due east through Canada) I’m not going to sweat it though……I’ve heard a country boy can survive. Even as a young adult, I carried this baggage with me until I began to realize that nothing ever happened like I thought it would. And those times that I just knew the end was near, it was not even close. I had wasted time and endured unwanted stress for no reason at all. Did that make all my circumstances always came out good?
