Born in Cleveland County, on February 8, 1950, he was the son of the late Alvin Lester Cook and Mertie Sigmon Cook. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Christopher "Chris" Cook; brothers, Russell Cook, Lester Cook, Ralph Cook, Ray Cook, Jerry Cook, Hazel Sigmon, Gene Sigmon, Howard Sigmon, Fred Cook, Brady Cook and an infant brother and sisters, Gladys Beaver Williams, Mary Fortenberry, Ethel Fortenberry and Evelyn Buff. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Bridges Cook; son, Jeff Cook and wife, Nikki of Polkville, three sisters, Reba Head of Polkville, Ruth Davis of Shelby, and Katherine Crotts and husband Dwight of Casar; and five grandchil- dren. A Funeral Service was held November 21, 2023 at Polkville Baptist Church with the Rev. Will Davis officiat- ing. The burial followed the service in the church cem- etery. WILMA CROTTS JOHNSON Wilma Crotts Johnson, 91, of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Born in Cleveland County, on December 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Crotts and Pearl Crotts. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hood Johnson; brother, Flay Crotts and sister, Aileen Spurling. She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Scruggs and husband Stephen of Cliffside and Renea Walker and husband Chris of Cherryville; broth- er, Junior Crotts of Hickory; sister, Mildred Chapman of Connelly Springs; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. The funeral service was held November 22, 2023 at Mull's Memorial Baptist Church with the Dr. Bulo Price and Dr. Tim Sims. The burial followed in the church cemetery. Born in Cleveland County, on May 11, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Wilber Cook and Janette Katherine Hoyle Cook. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Wilbert Wesley Cook and two sisters, Betty Baugham and Nora Cook. She is survived by her hus- band, Bobby Dean Gladden; a son, Shane Gladden and wife Valerie of Cherryville; three daughters, Tonya Beattie and husband Rick, Nickie Willis and husband Glenn; and Vickie Smith and husband Derek all of Cherryville; a brother, Earl Cook of Lincolnton; and seven grandchildren.
