Thomas "Norris" Tate, Sr., age 81, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Norris was born, Sunday, March 22, 1942 in Rutherford County to the late Gilford Young Tate and Eliza Queen Tate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Adams Tate; grandson, Caleb Lee Richards and sisters, Betty Jo Wilson, Alice Smith and Lucille Lane. Those left to treasure his memory include his chil- dren, Ann Tate Barnett of Henrietta, Jean Hudson (Richard) of Bostic, Tammy Tate of Rutherfordton and Thomas Norris Tate, Jr. (Susan) of Ellenboro; sister, Diane Tate of Ellenboro; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A private family gathering to honor Norris will be con- ducted. His urn will be bur- ied at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery next to his late wife. MYRNA LEE HOLLIFIELD Myrna Lee Hollifield, 84, of Fallston, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born in Hackettstown, NJ on January 22,1939. She was formerly of Goshen, NY and Patterson, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Renee Draper, her son, Steven Youngster, and daughter, Lenora Hollifield Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Ellis; son, David Ellis; two daughters, Angela Gail Ellis and Rhonda Ledford; two brothers, JD Philbeck and Buren Philbeck; two sisters, Shirley Philbeck and Brenda Bridges and two grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Hamrick of Grover, Tracy Sparks and husband, Matthew of Newton, Lisa Philbeck of Grover; a sister, Kathy Reinhardt of Crouse; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, David Poteat; broth- ers, Eddie and Robbie Tipton and an infant sister, Kathy Diane Tipton.
