June 18 - 24, 2023 • Terre Haute Tribune-Star • 9 If there's anything to know about Anthony Anderson, it's this: He certainly loves his mama. The "Black-ish" and "Law & Order" alum has proven that on television before, by making her his co-host of sorts on the revival of the game show "To Tell the Truth." Now, he gives her arguably an even bigger showcase by trav- eling across Europe with her in "Trippin' With Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris," a com- bination comedy, travelogue and relationship show that E! premieres as the first two of its eight half-hour episodes run back-to-back on Thursday, June 22. During the six seasons that ABC gave the most recent version of "To Tell the Truth," An- derson explained that he included his "Mama Doris" in it to help her reclaim some of her dream of being an actress, a career she gave up to raise him in Compton, Calif. Not only does he give her ample camera time in "Trippin'," he makes her even more central to the concept ... potentially bringing him even closer to her, and vice versa, as a result. While it doesn't hurt for the purpose of fu- eling a TV series, an overseas son-and-mother trip surely also strengthen the ties between the relatives involved. Though his stardom has given him familiarity with the perks of celeb- rity, Anderson can enjoy watching his mom navigate rare experiences and tangible luxury as the two of them navigate a six-week itinerary through England, France and Italy. As they are for so many travelers, fashion and cuisine are among the prominent aspects considered at each stop. Though she was seated to the side of the main stage on "To Tell the Truth," Mama Doris always was a part of the action, which Ander- son ensured. Also an executive producer of that show (as he is of "Trippin'"), he called on her along with the given episode's guest panelists to voice her choice of which of three contestants she believed to be telling the truth about who he or she was. No stranger to the world of reality shows, Anderson fronted several of them early in his television career: "Eating America With An- thony Anderson," "Carnival Cravings With Anthony Anderson" and "Animal Nation With Anthony Anderson" (the latter also featuring a then-budding talent named Tiffany Haddish). Even "All About the Andersons," his first star- ring sitcom, incorporated certain aspects of Anderson's real life – including his relationship with his mother, who was played by Roz Ryan. Anderson has done enough varied and en- during TV work for a reasonable guarantee that he's never gone from screens very long, if he so chooses. And all the better for him if he can bring Mama Doris along, as will be demon- strated over the next couple of months as they go "Trippin'" together. spotlight BY JAY BOBBIN Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris of "Trippin' With Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris" Anthony Anderson and his mama go 'Trippin'' Eric Andre as seen in "The Prank Panel" Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute 3500 Maple Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47804 (812) 238-1555 SHCof TerreHaute.com reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute 3500 Maple Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47804 (812) 238-1555 SHCof TerreHaute.com reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute 3500 Maple Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47804 (812) 238-1555 SHCof TerreHaute.com reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services •Eliminate time, stress and energy spent traveling to outpatient facilities. •Treatment is performed by experienced highly trained professionals •Better control of hypertension and anemia, less fatigue, less medications, fewer dietary restrictions and less re-hospitalizations To take advantage of this service please contact your case manager or social worker to contact Signature HealthCARE of Terre Haute.
