Dropping Friday, May 12, the 10-episode campaign opens with Catherine and Peter (Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult) in counseling follow- ing the chaotic events of the day prior that left them in an awkward place in their relationship. Peter had witnessed his own attempted mur- der at the hands of Catherine, who also impris- oned all his friends. Additionally, he's having a problem playing first husband to Catherine, so he immerses himself in child rearing, hunting and other pursuits, but visions of his late father Peter the Great (Jason Isaac) mock him as a failure. Meanwhile, Catherine is gaining a higher profile on the world stage and inspired by a visit by the U.S. ambassador, she sets up a con- ference where peasants, nobles and merchants can all have a say in Russia's future. But as with anything in politics, compromise is inevitable. Of course, historical satire is nothing new in television and film. The following are a few other options you can stream right now. "Galavant" (Netflix): Described as "the bas- tard child of Monty Python and 'The Princess Bride,"' this 2015-16 musical comedy starred Joshua Sasse as the title character, a dashing knight on a quest for love who helps a child- ish king to see the error of his ways. Though praised for its creative risk-taking, the series garnered poor ratings and was cancelled after two seasons. In fact, the second season premiere mocked its predicted demise with the title "A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear." "When Things Were Rotten" (YouTube Watch): Mel Brooks took on the legend of Robin Hood with this critically praised but short-lived 1975 ABC comedy that painted Robin and his Merry Men as complete morons who succeeded only because the evildoers were even more so. Dick Gautier starred as Robin alongside a cast including Misty Rowe, a pre- "Eight Is Enough" Dick Van Patten and a pre- "Love Boat" Bernie Kopell. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (Net- flix): The British comedy troupe had their first film hit with this 1975 spoof of the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, who encounter many absurd and surreal obstacles in their quest for the titular chalice. Graham Chapman, John Cleese and the rest of the Pythons headed the cast.
