Entertainment Now | May 6 - 12, 2023 By Adam Thomlison TV Media Q: Have you heard if there are any plans to make another Bourne movie? If so, will Matt Damon reprise his role as Bourne? A: It's possible that Hollywood is finally forgetting about the for- getful assassin. After five movies since 2002, four starring Matt Da- mon ("Good Will Hunting," 1997) in the title role, there are no cur- rent plans to continue with the Bourne franchise. That's not to say there isn't talk. For as long as Damon is working (and maybe longer), people will al- ways talk about the future of the highly influential action series that launched with 2002's "The Bourne Identity." And why wouldn't they? In to- tal, the movies earned more than $1.5 billion at the box office, they changed the way fight scenes were filmed in blockbusters for de- cades, and they transformed Da- mon from a mid-budget-drama star into a bankable leading man. And so in 2020, four years after the most recent installment (2016's "Jason Bourne"), director Paul Greengrass was asked if there will be another. He said he didn't know for sure, but that he wouldn't be involved if there was. That's bad news, because Greengrass ("News of the World," 2020) is almost as closely identi- fied with the series as Damon him- self. He directed all but the first and fourth films, but more worry- ingly, Damon has said in the past that the only reason he returned to the franchise for the fifth movie was because Greengrass was in- volved. And so, with Greengrass saying he's out for a sixth, it's unlikely Da- mon would be in. But what about another one without Damon? They tried that with the fourth entry, "The Bourne Legacy" (2012), subbing in Jeremy Renner ("The Hurt Locker," 2008) as another super-assassin created by a similar government program. But while it was a decent hit for Universal, doubling its budget at the global box office, the reviews were not as encouraging. So it's less likely that the studio will go ahead with a different actor. Q: Does the same person do the voice-over introductions for all of the Law & Order se- ries? It seems like the same voice, but it's been on so long and there are so many versions that it would be unlikely.
