Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries ©Community First Media Community First Media Death has always been seen as an enemy. It strips the mother of her child, the spouse of their mate and the child of their parent. After death pays a visit, our life is never the same. It often leaves us with more questions than answers. Naturally, we are more focused on the devastation of death, than its shroud of blessings. God deals with the reality of death in an amazing way. He chooses to conquer it with life. God's answer to death is resurrection. The signifi cance of the empty tomb where Jesus was laid is that death was defeated by God. Jesus Christ suffered death for all of mankind. His death provided the propitiation for our sin debt. His resurrection abolished the penalty of sin. In other words, it was the payment of all our sin that put Jesus in the grave and it was the power of God that brought him back to life. Unless we are present at the rapture, we all will inevitably face death. The difference is that at the moment of death, the soul of a believer will be taken to the presence of God in Heaven. Unbelievers will fi nd themselves in the horrors of Hell while they await their fi nal judgment. Death for those who have trusted Christ is no longer an enemy, but a passage to eternal life. If you have received Christ as your Savior, then death is no longer something to be feared. It is a necessity to a life lived forever with God.
