Entertainment Now | March 18 - 24, 2023 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Night Agent" - Season 1 Author Matthew Quirk's politi- cal thriller "The Night Agent" takes on new life with its very own Netf- lix series, which premieres Thurs- day, March 23, on the streaming platform. The series' 10-episode debut season stars Gabriel Basso ("Super 8," 2011) as Peter Suther- land, a very low-level FBI agent working in the basement of the White House. His life and his nights are dull as he mans a phone that never rings — until one day it does. Suddenly, Peter finds himself thrust into a dangerous, fast-mov- ing conspiracy that leads all the way to the Oval Office. Written for television by Corey Deshon ("Daughter," 2022), the series is directed by Seth Gordon ("The Lost City," 2022). "The Night Agent" also stars Luciane Buchanan ("The New Legends of Monkey"), Hong Chau ("The Whale," 2022), D.B. Woodside ("Lucifer"), Enrique Murciano ("Without a Trace"), Eve Harlow ("The 100"), Sarah Desjar- dins ("Impulse"), Fola Evans-Ak- ingbola ("Siren"), Phoenix Raei ("Clickbait") and Andre Anthony ("A Royal Runaway Romance," 2022). Set in New York City in 1999, the series follows the ex- traordinary story of one ordinary couple. As they come together and fall in love, they soon discover that their greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might just be themselves. Through it all, they navigate the treacherous land- scapes of their own minds as they work to overcome their memories, obsessions, fears, fantasies and histories for the sake of their rela- tionship. Starring Mae Whitman ("Good Girls") and Carlos Valdes ("The Flash") as couple Lindsey and Miguel, the series also stars Katie Finneran ("Why Women Kill"), Sophia Hammons ("Under Wraps," 2021), Andréa Burns ("West Side Story," 2021), John Hodgman ("Coraline," 2009), Scott Porter ("Ginny & Georgia"), Adam Kaplan ("The Big Leap"), Noah Robbins ("Unbreakable Kim- my Schmidt") and new talent Emil- ia Suárez. BOOM!," 2021) and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel ("My Name is Earl"). WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME VIDEO "Reggie" (2023) The new, original sports docu- mentary "Reggie," premiering Fri- day, March 24, on Prime Video, takes an intimate and revealing look at the career and legacy of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and activist Reggie Jackson. A beloved New York icon and one of baseball's most influential su- perstars, "Reggie" provides a de- finitive, firsthand account of the five-time World Series champion's trailblazing fight for "dignity, re- spect and a seat at the table" as a Black athlete (per Prime Video). As the film looks at Jackson's life, from the beginning of his career in Bir- mingham, Alabama, at the height of the civil rights movement to his move to Oakland, California, dur- ing the rise of the Black Panther Party, to landing in New York City as the highest-paid player in base- ball, Jackson sits down with fellow athletic legends Julius "Dr. J" Erv- ing, Hank Aaron, Derek Jeter and more to discuss their own experi- ences, how far sports and society have really come, and the leagues they want to leave behind for fu- ture generations. Directed by docu- mentary filmmaker Alex Stapleton ("Pride"), "Reggie" comes from BRON Studios, Delirio Films and Red Crown Productions, in associa- tion with Creative Wealth Media. First-time producer Kim Carsten, Aaron L Gilbert ("Licorice Pizza," 2021), Brenda Gilbert ("The Night- ingale," 2018), Josh Miller ("The Pathway") and Zoe Morrison ("No One Saw a Thing") are executive producers. WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Secrets of Sulphur Springs - Season 3 The mystery continues with the Season 3 premiere of the live-ac- tion family adventure drama "Se- crets of Sulphur Springs," coming to Disney+ Saturday, March 25. In its very first season, the series dove into the mystery of The Trem- ont, an old hotel being restored to its former glory by the Campbell family, who moved from Chicago to the small town of Sulphur Springs, Louisiana. While father Ben Campbell (Josh Braaten, "American Horror Story") came in with high hopes for the old hotel property, his son, Griffin (Preston Oliver, "This Is Us"), learns that his new house may be haunted by the spirit of a young girl named Savannah (Elle Graham, "Swamp Thing"), who disappeared with- out a trace several decades prior. Befriending the curious and eager Harper (Kyliegh Curran, "Doctor Sleep," 2019) in his class, Griffin and his new bud set out to solve the mystery of the missing girl, the haunted manor and the time- bending portal found on The Tremont's property.
