"Blue Bloods" is in the midst of its 13th season, so you had better ask a professional gam- bler whether that's a factor for or against its continuation. Is it more likely to be renewed be- cause CBS has done so 12 times already and clearly loves it? Or is it more likely canceled be- cause, as I said, all shows get the axe one day and this show's luck has to run out sometime? CBS generally issues its re- newal and cancellation notices in mid-April, so we'll know one way or another soon enough. I'm not a gambler, but in this case I think the smart money is on another renewal. Long-running procedurals like "Blue Bloods" are a central part of CBS's brand. And while the show's ratings have been slipping a little, it's no more than can be expected — it still averages six million viewers per episode, which is more than a lot of buzzier shows get. And it's doing that on Friday night, which is traditionally a TV dead zone. Thanks in part to de- pendable old "Blue Bloods," CBS has owned Friday nights for a while. It's worth noting that the show has beaten the rumor mill in the past. "Insiders" have said more than once that the show was about to get the chop, but it's still here. Q: Are they doing any more "Cloverfield" movies? A: Yes, but in keeping with the tradition of that series, "yes" is all we know. The sci-fi film series, which kicked off with 2008's "Clover- field," followed by "10 Cloverfield Lane" (2016) and "The Cloverfield Paradox" (2018), has always been secretive about its plots — to the extent of hiding how the films are actually related, outside their titles. (Spoiler alert: the sequels' links to the original were revealed late in each movie as a plot twist.) And so, all we know for sure right now is that J.J. Abrams, the super-producer behind all three films (as well as landmark TV dra- ma "Lost" and many other films and shows) is indeed working on a fourth "Cloverfield" film.
