However, his efforts to end things are interrupted by new neighbors (Mariana Trevino, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and their daughters, and also by the flashbacks he has to some of his major experiences with his late wife (Rachel Keller). His developing friendship with a transgender teenager (Mack Bayda), to whom he has a surprising connection, also gives him a reason to move forward. The film's song "Til You're Home" was co-written and is co-performed by Hanks' wife, Rita Wilson (they also were among the picture's producers). ››› (PG-13: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray, Digital and On Demand) "THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE ELEVENTH SEASON" Everything must come to an end, even for characters who might have seemed like they had met their ends already. This concluding round of the long-popular AMC horror-drama series expectedly sets high stakes for those who have made it to the closing point of the zombie-driven show, with Daryl and Maggie (portrayed by Norman Reedus and Lauren Cohan) teaming up with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on a mission against the Reapers. The supposedly beneficial Commonwealth – encompassing many survivors of the apocalypse – also plays into the final stretch, but whatever good it may offer could be offset by what actually lies beneath its promising veneer. Melissa McBride, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Cooper Andrews, Laila Robins and Lynn Collins also are on board to see this unique series out. DVD extras: deleted scenes. ››› (Not rated, AS, P, GV) (Also on Blu-ray and Digital) "ALICE, DARLING" Anna Kendrick often finds space for her sly brand of humor in her projects, but not in director Mary Nighy's frequently intense drama that casts her as a woman caught up in an abusive relationship. A getaway with a couple of girlfriends (Kaniehtiio Horn, Wunmi Mosaku) helps fortify her to the point where she's ready to part with her dangerous beau (Charlie Carrick), but even if she's ready to make a break, he isn't – setting the stage for potential tragedy once he determines where she is and pursues her there. ››› (R: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray, Digital and On Demand) "THE GOOD FIGHT: THE FINAL SEASON" This law-drama spin-off of "The Good Wife" had a healthy life of its own, with executive producers Robert and Michelle King steering it through six seasons in the streaming universe. With Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Michael Boatman, Sarah Steele and Nyambi Nyambi continuing as principal cast members, John Slattery ("Mad Men") and Andre Braugher ("Homicide: Life on the Street") were added for the final round – along with Carrie Preston, who's now intended to get her own spin-off in her Emmy-winning "Good Wife" role as offbeat attorney Elsbeth Tascioni. The last scripts mirror the civil unrest America has experienced in recent years, playing off certain developments that were established in the next-to-last season of this show. DVD extras; "making-of" documentary; deleted scenes; outtakes. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) "ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL: SEASON 3" The latest round of this fine PBS "Masterpiece" series, a remake based on James Herriott's (the pen name of James Alfred Wight) autobiographical bestsellers, features big developments for the central characters as the 1930s end. That's certainly the case for English veterinarian Herriot (still played by Nicholas Ralph), since Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) is about to make him a married man ... which also will mean major change for her, since she's been used to living with her father and sister. The Farnon family also sees differences, as Tristan (Callum Woodhouse) enters the veterinary profession and Siegfried (Samuel West) comes to terms with his painful memories of World War I military duty. Anna Madeley also is back as housekeeper Mrs. Hall re-establishes her family ties, and Patricia Hodge continues the role of Herriot's very particular client Mrs. Pumphrey, whom the late Diana Rigg played in the drama's first year. ››› (Not rated: AS) (Also on Blu-ray) "THE WHALE" By the time director Darren Aronofsky's drama makes its debut on physical home media, star Brendan Fraser may be an Oscar winner for it. He has fared extremely well on the film-award circuit for his portrayal of an English teacher who – though a loner – wants to reconnect with his teenage daughter (Sadie Sink, "Stranger Things"). Their reunion is quite tenuous, due to the father's health status and the daughter's questionable reliability among other factors. Co- star Hong Chau also earned an Academy Award nomination as the Fraser character's nurse. Ty Simpkins and Samantha Morton also appear in the tale, adapted by Samuel D. Hunter from his own play; the film's third Oscar bid came for hair styling and makeup, for reasons very evident here. DVD extras: two "making-of" documentaries. ››› (R: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray, Digital and On Demand) Brendan Fraser "That was a really sweet time of my life, and a beautiful introduction to the world of being a series regular. It was nice because we were not in L.A. and all in our own little sort of artists' colony in Utah." – Sarah Drew, seen recently in "Amber Brown" on Apple TV+, on her time on the series "Everwood" " t b to a n n o c D " T s "We're both doing our own thing. While we're open to (more work together), we seem to be expanding in other areas.
