En realidad, las personas de esta comunidad, LGBTQ+, son personas reales, tales como nosotros, tienen familia, trabajan o estudian, algunos tienen hijos y relaciones con sus parejas. Pero el odio proviene de algo, y ese algo viene sien- do el miedo, el miedo a cosas fuera de lo que la sociedad marca como "normal". ¿Pero, en realidad que es normal? La normalidad en realidad es una norma o regla propuesta por la comunidad que ajusta a cierta norma o característica ha- bitual, en otras palabras, algo que es común o usual; es más podemos decir que es el comportamiento esperado de los individuos. Si se sigue esta norma, uno puede decir que la forma de ser de los individuos en la comunidad LGBTQ+ son normales según su comportamiento, la forma en que interactúan con los demás, llevan sus vidas por lo general de acuerdo con expectativas sociales. Sin embargo, la sociedad ha indicado que su forma de vida, interacción no es "normal" que dado al caso que no caen bajo lo normal no deben de tener los mismos derechos que las personas normales. Por esto mismo, la sociedad "nor- mal" ha demostrado un rechazo hacia estas personas y demostrado un desvío a sus derechos civiles, que con la ayuda de individuos que perciben erróneamente la normalidad promueven la homofobia creando así crímenes de odio en contra de esta comunidad. Las normas culturales prepuciales ayudan a promover prejuicios, destruyendo la normalidad y respaldando al odio, al mismo tiempo castigando a aquellos que respetan y ven la diferencia como normal. Culturas del odio identifican a grupos marginados como enemigos por medio de la deshumanización y prefieren la violencia en contra de estos grupos. Los crímenes organizados en contra de la comunidad LGBTQ+ están basados en la percepción de esta comunidad como un blanco sujeto a la violencia. Estos crímenes están sujetos a ser identificados como crímenes de odio dado a que los agresores hacen comentarios homofóbi- cos; que el incidente suceda en, o cerca de un comercio identificado como ho- mosexual; que la víctima tenga la percepción de que el crimen era homofóbico, que la víctima estuviera agarrada de las manos de una persona del mismo sexo en público y otros contextos. Lo más importante es que los crímenes de odio anti LGBTQ+ interceptan con crímenes en contra del género, raza o etnicidad, y otras personas marginadas. Para solucionar este problema y obtener los recursos necesarios para com- batir el odio en esta y en otras comunidades, uno debe de tomar los siguientes pasos: 1.- Actuar: Haga algo, en la cara del odio, la indiferencia será interpretada como aceptable por los acosadores, el público y las víctimas. Miembros de la comunidad deben de tomar acción, para evitar que persistan, el odio se da como un ataque a la tolerancia y aceptación; un ataque a la salud comunitaria así que levanta el teléfono y llama a alguien, amigo o colega, realiza una junta comu- nitaria, sugiere algún tipo de acción. Firma una petición, repara actos de odio y vandalismo, usa tus habilidades, se creativo. 2.- Une fuerzas: Busca aliados en iglesias, escuelas, clubes, y otros grupos cívicos. Crea una coalición diversa, incluye a niños, la policía y los medios de comunicación. Obtén ideas de parte de todos e involucra a todos. Busca a grupos o personas que sabes que responderán a un evento contra el odio, tales como maestros, religiosos, grupos femeniles, grupos estudiantiles; haz un gran esfuerzo para incluir a la pequeña empresa, escuelas, políticos y miembros de grupos marginados. Busca a las autoridades; trabaja con ellos para crear una relación saludable. 3.-Apoya a las víctimas: Victimas de crímenes de odio son particularmente vulnerables. Si ve una víctima reporte el incidente, en detalle, pida ayuda. Si sabes de una persona que fue víctima de un acto de odio, demuéstrale tu apoyo. Enséñales que tienes deseos de ayudarlos. Actos de odio, tales como la quema de una cruz, una ahorca, una suástica demuestran y condenan el acto malicioso dejando a las comunidades con miedo y vulnerables. Construye un sistema de apoyo comunitario. Para ayudar a la comunidad, reporta cada incidente con de- talle, habla con la prensa, investiga cuales son tus derechos legales. 4.- Hazte oír: El odio debe de ser denunciado y expuesto. Ayuda a los medios de la comunicación a obtener un balance y esfuerzo. No hables en foros donde se inicia el conflicto, siempre habla en formas donde la atención se deja lejos del odio, habla hacia la unidad y paz. Denuncia a grupos y crímenes de odio y reparte la verdad sobre la amenaza de cómo el odio trata a la comunidad. La comunidad bien informada y unificada es la mejor defensa en contra del odio. 5.- Edúcate: Una campaña informada mejora la efectividad. Determina si en el evento existe la presencia de un grupo de odio, estudia su simbolismo y agenda. Entiende la diferencia entre un crimen de odio y un incidente bias. Típicamente un grupo de odio trata de limitar los derechos de ciertos grupos, ya que los ven como seres inferiores, quieren dividir la sociedad entre las líneas sociales, religiosas, étnicas y raciales; demonizan a grupos que odian con propaganda falsa y utilizan teorías de conspiración. Tratan de silenciar a sus opositores. De tal manera que te debes de educar. Conoce las criterios que forman un crimen de odio, busca las leyes locales, estatales y federales, ve los estatutos de tu localidad y considera trabajar en agregar categorías no existentes para la protección de los miembros de la comunidad. Aprende a diferen- ciar cual es cual y aprende sobre su impacto en lo personal, social y comunidad. Después de los comentarios públicos, Scott Thygerson dio las gracias a las personas por sus palabras e indicó que el hospital no tiene los recursos financie- ros necesarios dado a que sus finanzas vienen de los pagos del Medi-Cal, siendo el 70 por ciento de sus ingresos. Thygerson indicó también que harán los po- sible para hacer el esfuerzo de mejorar las condiciones de trabajo del hospital.
