As she seeks training from a professor (Colin Salmon), the reason she was singled out becomes clear ... since her mother was possessed by the same demon who now is overtaking a youngster's soul. Its release delayed for some time by the coronavirus pandemic, the film was the final credit for the late Ben Cross ("Chariots of Fire"); Virginia Madsen also stars. DVD ex- tras: three "making-of" documentaries; audio commentary by Byers and director Daniel Stamm. ››› (PG-13: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu- ray, 4K Ultra HD, Digital and On Demand) "AMERICAN MASTERS: GROUCHO & CAVETT" Among the most memorable visitors he had to his very brainy talk show, Dick Cavett ranks Groucho Marx very high on the list. The famously acerbic and witty member of the Marx Brothers of stage and screen fame was a reasonably frequent guest on "The Dick Cavett Show" ... and something of a mentor to the host as the latter was tran- sitioning from writer to on-air personality. Highlights of the televised sessions are com- piled in this program, coming to home video the week after it wax televised on many PBS stations. Filmmaker Robert S. Bader's docu- mentary also includes newly filmed comments from Primetime Emmy winner Cavett, plus related recordings that underscore the unique relationship that Cavett enjoyed having with Marx. ›››› (Not rated: AS) "STAR TREK: PRODIGY – SEASON ONE, EPISODES 1-10" The "Star Trek" universe has its younger fans, but rarely has the direct appeal of this Paramount+ and Nickelodeon series been made to them. The enduring sci-fi franchise goes where it hasn't often gone before with this animated series, which brings back Kate Mulgrew to voice a hologram version of her "Star Trek: Voyager" character Capt. Kathryn Janeway. However, the show centers around her new trainees, six young aliens who learn about working together – and the workings of Starfleet – while traveling aboard an abandoned ship. Also featured in the voice cast are Brett Gray, Jason Mantzoukas, Ella Purnell and – as the tyrannical Diviner and his enforcer Drednok – John Noble ("Fringe") and Jimmi Simpson ("Westworld"). Two of the episodes here are two-parters; a second season of the show was ordered even before the first one premiered. ››› (Not rated) (Also on Blu-ray) "BIG TIME GAMBLING BOSS" A competition to take over rule of the Tokyo underworld in the 1930s provides the thrust of this 1968 Japanese classic, being released on Blu-ray for the first time. The illness of the existing gang leader prompts discussion of replacing him, but the likeliest candidate is in prison. That prompts the appointment of a younger candidate to the job ... but when the crime veteran who originally was considered is released from his sentence, a battle for control ensues. The special features are sup- plemented by a booklet about the film. ››› (Not rated: AS, V) "CHESAPEAKE SHORES: THE COMPLETE SERIES" With the Hallmark Channel series based on Sherryl Woods' novels having ended re- cently, this set compiles all six seasons. The involving saga follows the O'Brien family after the return of daughter Abby (played by Meghan Ory) from New York to Maryland, where her father Mick (Treat Williams) has been a major player in helping to build their town. She's reunited with a former love (Jesse Metcalfe) while her dad, mother (Barbara Niven) and sisters (Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup) have their own romances to deal with. Diane Ladd, Brendan Penny and An- drew Francis also star; Robert Buckley ("One Tree Hill") joined the cast for the last two sea- sons after Metcalfe left. ››› (Not rated: AS) "BLACK ADAM" Dwayne Johnson lets his famous brawn do much of the talking in this effects-packed adventure, casting him as the title DC Comics character who has to determine whether to use his powers for good or evil upon his being freed from thousands of years of entombment. A very valuable crown becomes part of his quest to re-establish himself, though others are sold on the notion that he is much more villain than hero, a thought that many of his actions seem to underscore. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (who worked with Johnson previously on "Jungle Cruise"), the cast also includes Aldis Hodge (as Justice Society chief Hawkman), Sarah Shahi and Pierce Brosnan ... and watch until the end of the film for someone's somewhat surprising return. DVD extras: 10 "making-of" documentaries. ››› (PG-13: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, Digital and On Demand) Dwayne Johnson "Stay away from anything last minute! And this is one occasion when you perhaps might not want to make something like a hollandaise sauce, because it's tricky and you're a little worried about it. Kaufman's funeral " f I' o a b i o d to D o G a M S "Good parenting is inconvenient. And the Hallmark commercials and other things don't show that. You know, they don't show when the children are being mischievous, they don't show when the children aren't listening. They show you children with smiles and the parents with smiles in all the commercials. And I think it has utility because if you show the truth sometimes, it might diminish the population (chuckles)." – Dr. Adolph Brown of "The Parent Test" on ABC " i H a s t t m s a s s w c i i s d ( A P
