Whether it's a croissant during the grid locked morning drive to work, a granola bar for an afternoon snack or a fast food burger that's chowed down in the driver's seat while rushing to pick up the kids, take out food is most Daymon Patterson in "Best Daym Takeout" Bookhout Funeral Home 2x2 definitely a staple of our culture. I guess it's this on-the-go culture that helped propel Daymon Patterson's Internet show "Daym Drops" into an online sensation (although Patterson's approachable charm may have something to do with it, too). Well, it looks like some people at the Travel Channel were among the watchers that helped his short videos rack up tens of millions of views. "Best Daym Takeout" premiered on the network on Wednesday, July 31, and the show is proof that when it comes to both tasty food and loveable hosts, you really can't get enough of a good thing. Much like his bite-sized Internet vignettes, each episode of "Best Daym Takeout" finds Patterson swinging by several popular takeout joints in cities across the nation. There, he'll chow down on the grub while sitting behind the steering wheel (parked, of course — safety first!), while giving us a running commentary on the food's packaging, smell, appearance and, of course, taste. At its core, it's a simple restaurant review show, but it's the host's loveable personality that's made "Daym Drops" such an online hit. He's attracted untold legions of hungry fans, thanks to his over-the-top enthusiasm for the simplest things in life, such as discovering a joint selling french fries with just the right amount of crispiness. Last week's premiere episode saw Patterson trying out some of Chicago's best takeout, from roast beef sandwiches to the city's signature deep dish pizza. With pit stops planned in Atlanta, New Orleans, San Francisco, Portland and Los Angeles, this is a host with a lot of driving — and eating — to do. With six episodes planned for this limited-run series, Travels' "Best Daym Takeout" should have something for everyone's taste.
