12 • Terre Haute Tribune-Star • August 21 - 27, 2022 BY JAY BOBBIN Family Viewing Ratings AS Adult situations P Profanity V Violence N Nudity GV Graphic Violence "THE BIONIC WOMAN: THE COMPLETE SERIES" (Blu-ray) (Aug. 30) "1883" (Aug. 30) "OUTLANDER: SEASON SIX" (Sept. 20) "STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE – THE DIRECTOR'S EDITION" (4K Ultra HD) (Sept. 6) "ELVIS" (Sept. 13) "LIGHTYEAR" (Sept. 13) (UPCOMING RELEASES) "The Bionic Woman" "MR. MALCOLM'S LIST". This comedy- drama, set in early-19th-century England and based on a self-published novel by Suzanne Allain (who adapted it for this film herself), has an interesting screen history. It originally was done as a short subject with some of the same cast, then expanded to this full-length feature that sees the title list applied by its creator (played by Sope Dirisu) to his would-be bride (Zawe Ashton). He eventually decides so she doesn't measure up to his standards, and she vengefully enlists a friend ("Slumdog Millionaire's" Freida Pinto) to help her seek revenge. Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Park and Theo James also appear. ››› (PG: AS) (Also on Blu- ray, Digital and On Demand) "CHICAGO FIRE: SEASON TEN" All roads lead to a possible wedding between two members of Firehouse 51 in this most recent round of the Dick Wolf-produced NBC drama series. Love doesn't necessarily run smoothly in other relationships, as Casey's (Jesse Spencer) decision to relocate – at least for a while – puts a strain on his romance with Brett (Kara Killmer), and Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) runs into trouble by getting involved with a superior. Taylor Kinney, Eamonn Walker, Miranda Rae Mayo, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Joe Minoso, Daniel Kyri and Alberto Rosende also star. Brett Dalton also appears as a lieutenant who stirs mixed reactions from the team. The show's 11th season starts Sept. 21. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) "THE TARZAN VAULT COLLECTION" Johnny Weissmuller arguably had the most fame from being a screen incarnation of author Edgar Rice Burroughs' jungle-hero character, but other actors also played the role, as confirmed by the three attractions included in this set. Elmo Lincoln wasn't the original choice for the silent "Tarzan of the Apes" (1918), but the first actor chosen went into military service, so Lincoln got the job – over Burroughs' objections. Lincoln then returned for the serial "The Adventures of Tarzan" (1921). Bruce Bennett (also known as Herman Brix) was meant to have the part later, but an injury caused him to lose it to Weissmuller ... though Bennett would get it again for what ultimately became "The New Adventures of T arzan" (1935), offered to theaters either as a serial or a complete feature. ››› (Not rated: V) (Also on Blu- ray) "FERNGULLY: THE LAST RAINFOREST – 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION" An impressive voice cast led by Robin Williams is among the notable elements of this animated feature, based on books by Diana Young and focusing on a region inhabited by various creatures. It faces a threat from humans that could wreck the perfect balance there, leading a sprite to try to head off the trouble. Christian Slater, Samantha Mathis, Tim Curry, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong and Tone Loc also are heard. DVD extras: two "making-of" documentaries; theatrical trailers and television spots; audio commentary by director Bill Kroyer, art director Ralph Eggleston and coordinating art director Susan Kroyer; introduction by Bill Kroyer; script-to-screen comparison; music video. ››› (G) (Also on Blu-ray) "NCIS: LOS ANGELES – THE COMPLETE THIRTEENTH SEASON" Veteran actor Gerald McRaney became a full-time regular on the CBS adventure-drama during this round as the new leader of the team, succeeding Hetty (Linda Hunt). Among the highlights here is a very significant personal development for Callen (Chris O'Donnell), involving another character who's been familiar to fans of this program for some time. Daniela Rush, who plays special agent Kensi, continued her pursuits behind the camera by directing three episodes – one of which was written by Eric Christian Olsen, alias the show's Deeks. LL Cool J also continues as a cast regular, though Barrett Foa and Renee Felice Smith left after Season 12. The series' 14th season starts in October. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) "DIRTY DANCING: 35TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION" The hit-soundtrack-driven drama that refuses to let Baby stay in a corner has had many home-video releases over the years, but this one – available in 4K Ultra HD – marks a particular milestone for it. Patrick Swayze had been kicking around show business for a number of years before he used his dance training to become a major star as Johnny Castle, a 1960s Catskills-resort entertainer of questionable repute. Suddenly in need of a professional partner, he reluctantly takes on guest "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey), whose deepening love for him complicates their collaboration. Jerr y Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes, Jack Weston and Kelly Bishop ("Gilmore Girls") also star in the film that earned a best song Oscar for "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." Swayze and Eric Carmen also scored popular music singles off the picture. ››› (PG-13: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray and Digital) "Dirty Dancing" "We'd shoot a block of scenes with it, then 10 days later they'd tell me, 'You've got to put it back on.' And I'd be like, 'Oh, no!' It was beautifully designed, though. I could slide it right on, and off we went." – Treat Williams of "Chesapeake Shores" on Hallmark Channel, on the arm cast he wears during the show's final season " b i la 'Y b l b t s a – o S C c t s "I'm not a 'Bachelor'-watching gal, but the name sounded familiar, so I did some Googling ... and it was Dale Moss of 'The Bachelorette,' and we had watched one episode he was in.
