Brainerd Dispatch • July 3 - 9, 2022 •19 "Only Murders in the Building" - Season 2 Dig into a new case with the highly anticipated Season 2 release of "Only Murders in the Building," making its way to Hulu Tuesday, June 28. Starring Selena Gomez ("A Rainy Day in New York," 2019), Steve Martin ("The Pink Panther," 2006) and Martin Short ("Innerspace," 1987) as Mabel, Charles and Oliver, an unlikely trio of amateur sleuths brought together in the first season by their mutual love of the same true crime podcast. When a murder happened to take place in the high-end New York City building where they all live, the true crime aficionados took it upon themselves to create their very own podcast as they try to solve the murder themselves. While Season 1 ended on quite a cliff- hanger (and another murder in the building), Season 2 kicks off with Mabel, Charles and Oliver trying to keep themselves out of hot water as they look into their newest case. Created by Martin and John Hoffman of "Grace and Frankie," "Only Murders in the Building" Season 2 is directed by Jamie Babbit ("Silicon Valley") and Cherien Dabis ("Ramy"). The series is written by Hoffman, Martin, Joshua Allen Griffith ("Mrs. Ameri- ca"), "The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence" playwright Madeleine George, "Ohio" author Stephen Markley and "The Field Guide to the North American Teenager" author Ben Philippe. Vanessa Aspillaga ("Morning Glory," 2010), Kirk Kelly ("Do No Harm"), Ariel Shafir ("M'larky"), Cara Delevingne ("Suicide Squad," 2016), Michael Rapaport ("Atypical"), Jayne Houdyshell ("Little Women," 2019), Jackie Hoffman ("Garden State," 2004) and Michael Cyril Creighton ("Dexter: New Blood") also star. "The Princess" (2022) Classic fairytales get turned on their heads in the new fantasy action movie "The Princess," premiering on Hulu Friday, July 1. Strong-willed and beautiful, the film's protagonist princess's (played by Joey King, "The Act") not-quite-fairytale begins when she refuses to marry cruel sociopath Julius (Dominic Cooper, "That Dirty Black Bag"), to whom she is betrothed. Kid- napped and locked away in a tower for her refusal, the princess fights her way back to save her family and the kingdom from a scorned and vindictive Julius, who is intent on taking her father's throne by any means nec- essary. Directed by Le-Van Kiet ("The Requin," 2022), "The Princess" is written by Ben Lustig and Jake Thorn- ton of "Blood Soldiers: Interrogation" (2011). The film's cast is rounded out by Veronica Ngo ("The Old Guard," 2020), Ivo Arakov ("Frenchy," 2010), Martin Taskov ("Her Pen Pal," 2021), Mitko Angelov ("Brothers") and Vasil Toshev ("Stoyan," 2021). "Baymax!" - Season 1 Everyone's favorite friendly inflatable robot is back in the new computer-animated series "Baymax!," pre- miering on Disney+ Wednesday, June 29. A sequel se- ries to the 2014 hit film "Big Hero 6," Baymax (voiced by Scott Adsit, "30 Rock") is working outside the su- perhero team to fulfill his program's purpose of helping others. As he takes on health-care jobs around the city of San Fransokyo, Baymax ends up on a series of ador- able and hilarious adventures in an attempt to improve the lives of everyone he meets. Created and written by "Big Hero 6" director Don Hall, "Baymax!" is directed by Dan Abraham ("Once Upon a Snowman," 2020), Mark Kennedy ("Zootopia," 2016), Lissa Treiman ("Wreck-It Ralph," 2012) and Dean Wellins ("Raya and the Last Dragon," 2021). Ryan Potter ("Titans"), Maya Rudolph ("Saturday Night Live"), Emily Kuroda ("Gilm- ore Girls"), Lilimar ("Bella and the Bulldogs"), Zeno Robinson ("Pokémon") and Jaboukie Young-White ("Fairfax") also voice star in the series. "The Owl House" - Season 2, 5 episodes The magical adventure continues when five new epi- sodes of "The Owl House's" second season make their way onto Disney+ Wednesday, June 29. Starring self- assured teenager Luz (Sarah-Nicole Robles, "Encanto," 2021), who stumbled upon a portal to a magical world in the series' first season, the show follows the adven- tures of Luz and her magical new friends — a witch name Eda (Wendie Malick, "Young Sheldon") and her tiny demon sidekick, King (Alex Hirsch, "Gravity Falls"). While Luz, who doesn't possess any magical abilities of her own, fulfills her dream of being a which by act- ing as Eda's apprentice, the trio embarks on surprising adventures throughout the realm. As Season 2 contin- ues, King finally uncovers some truths about his past while the witches prepare for the day of unity. "The Terminal List" - Season 1 Get to the bottom of a new mystery with Prime's new- est action-thriller series "The Terminal List," premiering on the streamer Friday, July 1. Chris Pratt ("Guard- ians of the Galaxy," 2014) leads the series as Cmdr. James Reece, a Navy SEAL who's just returned home after his entire platoon was ambushed during a high- stakes covert mission. Determined to discover why his platoon was attacked, Reece's mission becomes all the more urgent when he learns new dark forces are working against him and endangering his loved ones.
