He no longer ran around, and he could not even jump in and out of the car or on the couch. His owner, Katie Ward, worried he may be depressed due to the death of another pet. After a while of the same behavior, though, she ended up taking Stewie into the Care Animal Clinic, 14350 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, where Dr. Jill Kusba evaluated him. Kusba found Stewie's back legs and spine were extremely tight. She performed acupuncture and massage, and taught Ward how to stretch him at home. Stewie also received herbal therapy . "From the first treatment, he started acting real different at home," Ward said. "He started running around." Stewie received treatments for two months and now only goes to Kusba on an asneeded basis. "Now he's back to normal," Ward said. There are a number of alternative ways of looking at a pet's health. It's just a matter of finding what works for your favorite critter. Brookfield & Elm Grove This Month is free and will arrive in your mail the first week of each month.
