With the original writers and "black-ish" mentor Kenya Barris involved, the star again plays Prince Akeem, who is stunned to discover he sired a son during his previous visit to New York, so he and right-hand man Semmi (Arsenio Hall) head back to the Big Apple to find the offspring. Shari Headley, James Earl Jones, Paul Bates, Vanessa Bell Calloway and the late Louie Anderson also reprise their roles from the first film, with Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan and Jermaine Fowler among cast additions. John Legend makes a brief appearance. ››› (PG-13: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray) "A JOURNAL FOR JORDAN" Denzel Washington directed this true drama starring Michael B. Jordan as the keeper of the title journal, an Iraq-stationed soldier who records all his thoughts and feelings for his infant son while he's fulfilling his military duty. Back at home, the sergeant's fiancee (Chante Adams, playing Pulitzer Prize- winning journalist Dana Canedy, whose book the film was based on) shares the entries with the intended recipient. Co-stars include Tamara Tunie (who acted with Washington in "Flight") and Robert Wisdom. ››› (PG-13: AS, N, P) (Also on Blu-ray and On Demand) "YELLOWSTONE: SEASON 4" Still among the most popular series on basic cable, the Paramount Network drama continues with this recently televised set of episodes that begins with others launching a hunt for rancher John Dutton's (Kevin Costner) assailants. As he fights to survive his shooting, his daughter Beth's (Kelly Reilly) fate is revealed. Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Will Patton, Gil Birmingham and Ryan Bingham also star, with Piper Perabo and Jacki Weaver as new additions. During this season of the show, the prequel "1883" began, accounting for the flashback appearances by spouses Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in their roles from that series. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray) "DOWNTON ABBEY: THE MOTION PICTURE" With the second feature film based on the internationally popular television series getting its release soon, the first one makes its 4K Ultra HD debut. Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) is not at all pleased about the arrival of a distant cousin (Imelda Staunton), and it's great fun to watch the characters go at each other, each giving as good as she gets. The visit is triggered by the cousin being a servant to the queen (Geraldine James), who arrives at the manor with the king (Simon Jones), setting up a new examination of the class system between the site's regular wait staff and the royal escorts. The movie certainly comes from solid sources – original series creator Julian Fellowes and first-finale director Michael Engler – and if you're looking for familiar faces, they're here in abundance. Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Jim Carter and Joanne Froggatt are among others reprising their roles. Though newcomers to the saga will catch on fast, this largely is built for fans who already are in the house, and they're sure to be satisfied. ››› (PG-13: AS) "STARFLIGHT ONE" A TV-movie with a big cult following, this 1983 adventure (also known as "Starflight: The Plane That Couldn't Land") boasts special effects by John Dykstra, who by that time had made a name for himself with "Star Wars" and "Battlestar Galactica." Lee Majors plays the pilot of a hypersonic aircraft damaged during its inaugural flight by space debris, keeping its jet engines going and sending it into intergalactic orbit. Working with the vessel's designer (Hal Linden), he tries to figure out a way to get the vessel and its passengers back to Earth before the oxygen runs out. Lauren Hutton, Ray Milland, Robert Webber, Gail Strickland, Tess Harper, Kirk Cameron and Robert Englund (alias "Freddy Krueger") also star. ››› (Not rated: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray) "THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS" The hugely successful sci-fi-adventure franchise is revived with its fourth feature-film edition, as Keanu Reeves returns to the role of Neo, who gets caught up in a complicated alliance between men and machines that also comes to involve his former ally Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss). As might be expected by anyone who knows the earlier films in the franchise, there's much more complexity to the proceedings here; Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson also return to the series, with Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris among newcomers, director, producer and co-writer Lana Wachowski also is back on board. The film was one of last year's final Warner Bros. releases to make its debut simultaneously in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service. DVD extra: "making-of" documentary. ››› (R: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray, Ultra HD, Digital and On Demand) "The Matrix Resurrections" "The one thing for me was probably hearing 'No' so many times and then still betting on myself and believing after having three record deals and being dropped and (having) two cars repossessed and sleeping on couches. It was all a part of the process." – Katy Perry of "American Idol" on ABC " p s s b r d tw s a K Id "You don't know what's going to happen to you, and it's the same for a character as for a human being.
