MARY KEY Incumbent Republican Commissioner Mary Key will face primary opponent William "Bill" Tuley for the County Commissioner Dis- trict 1 seat. Key is the former treasurer and auditor of Gibson Coun- ty, and farm wife with a bach- elor's degree in education. She served on North Gibson School Board. She has now served as commissioner, elect- ed to the post after Commis- sioner Alan Douglas retired. WILLIAM "BILL" TULEY Tuley, of Princeton, is a dis- abled Vietnam naval veter- an retired after 38 years on the railroad, was an eight- year food inspector at Gibson County Health Dept., and has worked five years with the In- diana State Dept. Health as a food safety farm consultant. He is president of the Coun- cil on Aging in charge of the Senior Citizen Center, and is a Princeton City Council mem- ber. JEREMY OVERTON Incumbent Republican Jer- emy Overton filed for anoth- er County Council District 4 term, in which he will face fel- low Republican Gerald "Jerry" Moore in the primary. Overton, 44, of Haubstadt, is completing his fourth term on the county council, is mar- ried to Tara (Hipp) Overton, and they have a daughter, Sun- ny, 5. He's active on the Haub- stadt Sommerfest committee and has 22 years as a Finan- cial Advisor with GuideWise Financial, a private wealth ad- visory practice of Ameriprise Financial, with 18 of those years in Haubstadt. He's on the sheriff's pension board and greatly involved with the jail project. GER ALD "JERRY" MOORE Moore is an Owensville High School graduate, veter- an, member of American Le- gion Post 51 and a Mason- ic Lodge Chaplain for nine years. He is married to Lisa Moore and they have two children. He is a member of the Owensville United Methodist Church and serves on the church council. He is a former Gibson Coun- ty Highway Dept. worker. For the Washington Town- ship Board Democrat Kelly Hope registered this week, as well as Republican Rusty Hill and Democrat David "Mike" Hill. Also in Washington Town- ship, Democrat Tony Schro- eder filed to serve as Wash- ington Township Trustee and Washington Township Pre- cinct Committeeman. OTHER CONTESTED RACES COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 2 In the County Council Dis- trict 2, both Democrat incum- bent Dan Beard and Republi- can Hannah Whitehead filed to serve in the post, which, if no one else filed, would de- lay the contested election until November. However, the primary filing deadline doesn't close until noon Feb. 4, so there are several weeks during which primary oppo- nents could appear. GIBSON COUNTY SHERIFF Another contested race al- ready shaping up is the Gibson County Sheriff's race. With Republican Tim Bottoms hit- ting his two-term limit, Repub- lican hopefuls Capt. Deborah Borchelt and Sgt. Bruce Vano- ven both registered as candi- dates last week. RECORDER For recorder, incumbent Re- publican Jim Morrow filed for office, and will face fellow Re- publican Tim Schurmeier in the primary for recorder. NON-CONTESTED RACES SHERRI GREENE Democrat Sherri Greene filed as Patoka 4 Precinct Committeeman. K AY VORE Kay Vore, Democrat, filed for the Patoka 12 Precinct Committeeman. JAN BALLARD Democrat Jan Ballard filed as Patoka 8 Precinct Commit- teeman. BRUCE McINTOSH Republican Bruce McIn- tosh filed for Patoka Town- ship Board. JESSICA KR AMER Republican Jessica Kramer filed to serve as Union Town- ship trustee, a post she cur- rently holds by appointment. Kramer, a mother of four married to Brian Kramer, is a Fort Branch native and first-generation college grad- uate who earned her degree while caring for her children. She has worked at the Dea- coness Women's Hospital for a decade and in the finance de- partment for Boston IVF for a number of years, and will continue when time allows on a per diem basis. She is the great niece of Ed Schmitt, who was the township trustee for several years. CR AIG KUESTER Democrat Craig Kuester, 43, of Fort Branch, is the only person who has filed for Union Township Board. He is married to Courtney, a kindergarten teacher at Ow- ensville Community School, has a son, Noah, 14, and son, Merexx, 12, both at Fort Branch Community School. He's a Gibson Southern grad with a bachelor's of sci- ence and has worked for Kuester Engineering as a Pro- fessional Engineer and Profes- sional Land Surveyor. He's served the township advisory board since 2008 and is a Democratic Precinct Com- mitteeman. DEWAYNE WADE Democrat DeWayne Wade filed for Montgomery Town- ship Trustee and Montgomery 2 Precinct Committeeman. He's been in the trustee post since 2007, is a self-employed farmer that said he does it be- cause he enjoys running the food bank. DEBBIE WETHINGTON Democrat Debbie Wething- ton filed as Patoka 11 Precinct Committeeman. SHERRI SMITH Republican Sherri Smith filed for the Clerk of Circuit Court position. MARY ANN O'NEAL Republican Mary Ann O'Neal filed to fill the posi- tion of treasurer, and is the only person to file so far for treasurer.
