A Vigil Service was held June 1, 2021 at St. Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church in Shelby, NC and was led by Monsignor Patrick J. Winslow. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Most Rev. Peter J. Jugis, Bishop of Charlotte June 2, 2021, at St. Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church. A private burial followed at Belmont Abbey Cemetery. Father Kottar was born Dec. 6, 1967, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Michael and the late Kathleen (Kropelak) Kottar. In addition to his parish of 300 families at St. Mary and Christ the King, he is sur- vived by his father Michael H. Kottar of Pickerington, Ohio; twin sisters Amy (Michael) Akers, also of Pickerington, and Renee (Gregory) Selby of Nazareth, PA. He was preceded in death by his mother. Heaton, 90, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. He was born on July 18, 1930 in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Roscoe Heaton and Ina Heaton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Warren Heaton, and sis- ter, Anna Mae Heaton Montgomery.
