It's back by popular demand! CHAIR VOLLEYBALL Enjoy exercise, fun and fellowship all rolled into ONE! Have a seat and play volleyball! It's an innovative way to exercise, have fun and meet people all at once! Even a wheelchair-bound individual can participate. You don't even have to know how to play…just show up and we'll teach you on the spot! FOR AGES 50 AND ABOVE THE NEAL CENTER 100 T.R. HARRIS DRIVE, SHELBY TUESDAY AFTERNOONS-1PM until 2:30PM THURSDAY MORNINGS-10AM until 11:30AM • Signing up to use the pool room/exercise room is no longer required. • All vaccinated staff, participants and visitors do not have to wear a mask nor observe social distancing while inside or outside the center. The only exception is in areas where distance is required, such as the Fitness Room. • All unvaccinated participants and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks inside and outside of the center and observe social distancing. • All unvaccinated staff are required to wear masks and observe social distancing, as long as the state and federal guidelines continue to call for it. • Both vaccinated and unvaccinated staff may remove masks outside, if keeping six feet of distance. • Participants are highly encouraged to use hand sanitizer before checking into the center and frequently while there. Please also wash hands thoroughly after each restroom visit. • Participants are requested to wipe down any equipment they use when finished using it. • Custodians will complete a once daily wipe-down of all "high touch" surfaces. • Restrooms will continue to be professionally cleaned weekly, including a daily wipe-down. • Once reopened, the Dining Room seating will be limited to four people per table. • The Gift Shop and Library will no longer be limited to one visitor at a time. • Building rentals have now resumed. REVISED SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR THE NEAL CENTER EFFECTIVE JUNE 14, 2021 CENTER IS OPEN TO PARTICIPANTS FROM 8:30AM-4:00PM What can a Cleveland County senior citizen do if they don't have any way to cool their home? Contact "Operation Cool-Off"! Hot weather is dangerous for older adults and anyone with heart disease, diabetes, or a history of stroke. It's especially dangerous when there's not an adequate cooling system in the home. As in years past, the Council on Aging/Neal Center will again be giving away a limited number of electric box fans during the summer months. To qualify for a box fan: -Applicants must be a Cleveland County resident, age 60 and over, or 18 and older and disabled. -Have no air conditioning in their home. -Have a home situation where a threat to health exists. If you fit these qualifications, please call the Council on Aging/Neal Center at 704/482-3488.
