Born in Gaston County on March 13, 1952 he was the son of the Rachel White Stroup and the late Lehman Darrell Stroup. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Eunice McKinney Horn. Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris McKinney Stroup; one daughter, Pamela Jan Terry and her husband, Robert Terry Jr. and their two chil- dren, Katelyn Marie Costner and husband Landon and Steven Terry; and Dennis's son Tim D. Stroup and wife Tonie and their four chil- dren: Baylee Stroup, Gabe Stroup, Rachael Oehler, and Jessie Oehler all of Kings Mountain, and three sisters Belinda Lankford and hus- band Steve of Kernersville, Jane Galloway and hus- band Butch, Debbie Putnam and husband Roy and dear friends Sandy Scates and David Whorley all of Kings Mountain. Born in Cleveland County on December 7, 1952 he was the son of the late Millard McCurry and Marie Pruitt McCurry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Billie Jean Bolin McCurry and two brothers. Edgar is survived by a son, Shane McCurry of Cherryville; a daughter, Genara McCurry Long and husband Billy of Lincolnton; three sisters; Deborah Dawson and husband Marty of Kings Mountain, Jill Short of Kings Mountain and Brenda McCurry of Shelby; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numer- ous nieces and nephews. BRENDA WILDS SMITH Brenda Wilds Smith, 64, of 146 Whisonant St., Blacksburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020, at her residence. Born in Burnsville, NC, she was the widow of Chris Smith and the daughter of Fred Mosley and the late Ethel Wilds Mosley. In addition to her father, Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Mechelle Evans and husband, Ron; a son, Harley Ham and wife, Christina; eight grandchil- dren; a brother, Bob Mosley; and three sisters: Patsy Peeler, Cynthia Manning, and Sherry Rose. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel, a brother, Jim Mosley, and a sister, Ollie Bell Mosley; and Chris Smith - Spouse. ROBERT EUGENE "GENE" LEE Robert Eugene "Gene" Lee, age 90, of Shelby, NC went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2020, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. BETTY LOU BRACKETT TOWERY Betty Lou Brackett Towery, 74, of Old Stagecoach Road, Lawndale, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby. Born in Cleveland County, on January 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William Lawrence Brackett and Helen Ward Brackett. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Don Brackett. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Dennis Walter Towery, Sr.; two sons, Dennis Towery, Jr. and wife Kathleen and John Towery and wife Jessica all of Lawndale; five sisters, Marlene Allen of Clarksville, GA, Shirley Hord of Shelby, Diane Mauney and hus- band Harry of New House; Patti Hamrick and husband Mike of Waco; and Linda Blackburn of Shelby; four grandchildren; Jesse Rachel Towery, Perry Towery, Ivey Towery and Jude Towery. Brice was born on October 20, 1937 in Iredell County a son of the late Rome Mitchell Fox and Hazel Cathryn Dellinger Fox. Brice served our country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Painter McNeilly; two brothers, Andrew McNeilly and Stan McNeilly and four sisters, Dora Tallent, Flora Lowery, Maudie Mazell Lail and Lois Wright. She was born on June 4, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Charlie Stroud, Jr. and Cora Lee Schenck Stroud. Sallie married Bobby Leach, Sr. and from that union their son Bobby Leach, Jr. was born. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie Stroud, Joe Stroud, Dwayne Spikes and Randy Spikes. She leaves to cher- ish her memory, one son, Bobby Eugene Leach, Jr. of Shelby, NC; her siblings, Robert Stroud (Betty) of Shelby, NC, Hoyt Stroud of Charlotte, NC, Gracie Stroud of Montgomery, AL, Diana Bell (Ernest), Dorothy Leach, Warren Spikes (Sherry), Patricia Moore and Carolyn Griffin all of Shelby, NC; seven grandchildren, Kadedra Ussery, Aniyah Perry-Leach, Kavacia Shell, Samiyah Perry- Foster, Symoriah Littlejohn and Bobby Leach, III all of Shelby, NC and Jayden Walker of Forest City, NC; one great-grandchild, Dane Fuller of Shelby; and a spe- cial friend, Ray Watson of Shelby.
