The staff will devote three days recording each senior individually, then compiling the videos for a remote graduation ceremony to be presented on Friday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. Left: Pike Central senior Matthew Barrett cleans out his locker on Tuesday, following his session to be video recorded receiving his diploma. All Pike Central seniors were asked to check in, were given a trash bag, asked to emp- ty their lockers, and return books and Chromebook computers to the Tech Department. bel for a recommendation. "I think we should have at least what we have spent as an av- erage of the last two years. Right now we are hanging in there," said Gumbel. Young did offer some hope of revenues increas- ing. "I think we are going to see a big spike from what we have been doing as things start opening up. I'm okay with you putting a little in and seeing how it goes," he said. Councilman Willis said, "I don't think it is anything as a board we want to revis- it every month." Craig said he was think- ing about moving $50,000. Councilman Randy Harris moved to transfer $50,000 from EDIT to the Public Safety Fund. It was approved by a 6 -0 vote. Councilman Max Elliott no- tified the council he couldn't attend Tuesday's meeting. Sheriff Kent Johnson said while his jail population was down to 29 inmates, they had been moving them to parts of the jail and doing routine maintenance they couldn't do when the space was occupied. Councilman Craig com- mented on a handout given to the council to show the ef- fect of circuit breaker limits established by the state. The circuit breakers set limits on how much a person's proper- ty taxes can increase. Craig said because of the big drop in Pike County Assessed Value from IPL's assess- ment dropping, Pike Coun- ty is projected to lose almost $400,000 in tax revenue. County Treasurer Marta Query told the council her office had collected about $4 million in property tax- es. The deadline has been moved to July 15. Gumbel said she has been warned the Motor Vehicle Highway fund, which is gas taxes, is projected to drop by 40 percent. Gumbel requested an ap- propriation of $55,000 to have records in her office on plat books and transfer books to be recorded dig- itally. She said there is no back-up source for those re- cords except the hardbound books. She said they have digital versions since 2003, but they need to do it for re- cords prior to 2003. It was tabled to see if new equipment in the Recorder's office could do much of this task. Councilmen rejected a re- quest to increase Election Board Members' pay from $1,300 to $2,500. Clerk Lana Griffith said the board has had to meet more often as they worked setting up vot- ing centers instead of poll- ing places in each precinct. She said they also will have to work all day on elec- tion day instead of just part of the day. Eddie Joe Boyd, President of the Election Board, said they are having to spend much more time working on the election with the vote centers. He also said the vote centers were sav- ing about $ 6,000 an election. When Council President Jon Craig asked for a mo- tion from the board on the request, no motion was of- fered and the matter died. Tuesday's meeting was in an in-person meeting in the courthouse rotunda. It is the first time to have an in-per- son meeting instead of a tel- ephonic meeting since the pandemic began. The next meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m Tuesday, June 9.
