By Andy Heuring A Petersburg woman was arrested on numerous charges after her long-time boyfriend reported her for being high on cocaine and asked police to remove her from his house. Lori Louise Hobby, 46, of 4691 N. Memory Lane, Pe- tersburg, was arrested on charges of domestic battery, interference with reporting a crime, resisting law en- forcement, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of paraphernalia and pos- session of a synthetic drug or look-a-like. Pike County Deputy Sher- iff Mike Willis said he and Petersburg Officer Bryce Manning went to Ron Ev- ans' residence at about 3 a.m. Evans had asked for po- lice to remove Hobby from his residence because she was high on cocaine. When police got there, Evans told them Hobby had lived there for 13 years. He said Hobby had been smoking crack co- caine and he found her crack pipe in the freezer. Police lo- cated a pipe that had resi- due, which field tested posi- tive for cocaine. When police talked to Hobby, she said Evans got mad at her because she was cleaning at such a late hour of the night. Deputy Willis said while talking with Hob- by, she was showing signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance, with erratic actions and speech. She told police she had not smoked crack for years, but said she used to be an ad- dict. She did tell police she smoked CBD and drank wine. She also said she didn't know anything about the pipe. Willis, in his report, said after learning Hobby had lived there for 13 years, he couldn't make either leave, but he recommended one of them leave for the night. Police said Hobby agreed to call her mother in Evans- ville and have her pick her up. She agreed to stay in the car until her mother arrived. Deputy Willis said police left the residence at about 4 a.m. Then at about 5:20 a.m., Evans went to the Sheriff's Department and said Hob- by returned to the house, took his phone and caused a bump on his forehead. He said he heard a noise in the lower part of the house and when he went to investi- gate, he found Hobby smok- ing crack out of a glass jar. He said when he told Hob- by he was calling police, she became physical and hit him in the head, and took his cell phone so he couldn't call 911. Deputy Willis went back to Evans' residence and found Hobby in a green Jeep in the driveway. Deputy Wil- lis, in his report, said Hobby had to be asked three or four times to unlock the driver's side door. Willis said when he asked Hobby if her mother was still coming to get her, she responded, "No, I'm lying. I told her not to come. " She admitted she took Evans' phone and put it in a desk drawer. Willis, in his report, said Hobby ad- mitted their altercation got physical. Willis said Hobby also ap- peared to be more intoxicat- ed than when they first talk- ed to her. When she got out of the vehicle, police asked her to put her hands behind her back. She then became "irate and forcibly resisted by trying to pull away." A fter taking her into custody, Pe- tersburg Police Chief Chuck Baumgart located a glass jar with burnt residue in it in the living room. It field tested positive for cocaine. He also found two silver spoons with a white powder on them and a lighter, as well as a green leafy substance believed to be synthetic marijuana. Hobby arrested on multiple charges after boyfriend calls police By Andy Heuring Not turning on his head- lights led to a Washing- ton man being arrested for drunken driving last Mon- day. Mason D. Robinson, 39, of 1007 SW Second St., Washington, was arrest- ed at about 9:30 p.m. Mon- day, May 4 by Indiana State Trooper Brayden Angermei- er and Petersburg Patrol- man Bryce Manning. Officer Manning said he pulled over Robinson at the intersection of Highway 57 and 10th Sts. in Petersburg after seeing him driving without his headlights on. Trooper Angermeier said when he talked with Robin- son, he smelled the strong odor of alcohol and noticed Robinson had slurred speed, watery eyes and was sway- ing while trying to stand still. According to a proba- ble cause affidavit, Robinson said he had drank three or four lite beers about 45 min- utes earlier at a bar near Hol- land and was driving home. He failed some of the field sobriety tests and a porta- ble breath test. He told po- lice he thought he was sober enough to drive. He was tak- en to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.112 per- cent for blood alcohol con- tent, the legal limit is 0.08 percent. Robinson asked if his passenger, Angela Rob- inson, could drive his car home. She told police she had been drinking also. She was given a portable breath test and had a reading of 0.083 percent. She was told she could not drive at the level. They then asked if a friend could pick up their vehicle. Officer Manning stayed with the car until a friend could pick it up. Robinson was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
