A rts & Entertainment Page 4 March 22, 2013 New Asian Garden: great food, atmosphere Mark Criss Staff Writer Red Bluffs very own New Asian Garden is open for business and a wonderful pick. Although you may not know them very well, the New Asian Gardens owner Angela ( last name not given) says that they have been around for a few years now. The stacked up years obviously paid off because, Angela knows what she is doing. While watching her attend to her hungry customers, she was always polite and made you feel extremely welcome. The New Asian Garden could put Olive Garden to shame as far as giving you the Welcome home feeling. The inside of the restaurant definitely had at the least a, 4 star fancy dcor. The tables had the classic silk white Courtesy of Connor Ross The inside and outside of New Asian Gardens table tops on and in every spot were a person could sit, on the table, was a chart of the twelve Chinese signs. Which is not only interesting and also entertaining, but educational to a extent. I found out that I am an by the young and pretty Mila Kunis. Both of these people are an exceptional actor and actress and have become quite popular through high school comedy shows in the late 90s. Though James usually acts as a dirty, unshaven dropout kid with a good heart, but all the wrong places to go, James just doesnt quite fit in with the children scene although he is still a dirty cheater in Oz the Great and Powerful. The same goes for Mila, usually seen as preppy and arrogant. She lives up to her reputation in Oz, but it is still strange to see her in a childrens fantasy movie. Thus giving an excuse for less than top performances. Oz the Great and Powerful, being a more dramatic kids movie, needs its share of comedic reliefs, and while I think there is one too many in this particular movie, they do provide their fair share of laughs and are not too ridiculous. The movie is mostly animated, and this unfortunately conflicts with movements of the actors and actresses. As they fly, run, and interact with the environment, their actions look awkward. Despite the less than spectacular acting and awkward interaction scenes Oz the Great and Powerful makes up for it in amazing backstory. Though it may not seem that impressive to those new to the Wizard of Oz, for true fans, Oz the Great and Powerful is an eye opener and worth the movie ticket price to go see. ox and so is any one born in 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, or 2021. Aside from a good decor it was also obvious that her employees had a good work ethic and would do their best to keep the restaurant as nice as possible. The whole time I was there aside from Angela I saw one person that was involved with the tables and they never stopped working. As said before the food was cooked perfectly The cook there knows his stuff when it comes to preparing a good meal. The food falls in to your mouth and explodes with flavor soon after entering. The master cooks name is Mr. Chang and when introduced to him he seemed like a very happy man, which is good considering his talents. The New Asian Garden is a great restaurant to eat at giving its customers a good time packed with a mouth full of good food and a look in to Chinese heritage it is definitely a five star restaurant. Its located on Main Street by Las Mariachis. Friendly service and good food. The prequel to the classic Book of Shadows is a movie The Wizard of Oz juicy story full of magic Owen Ritter Staff Writer Oz the Great and Powerful is a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz. It explains the appearance of the Wizard himself, (James Franco), and the story of how the witches became so wicked. Oz the Great and Powerful has an amazing backstory to support the appearance in the sequel of the cowardly lion, the heartless tin man and the brainless scarecrow. Oz the Great and Powerful is a great movie to take younger siblings or relatives to show them what really happened before they see the classic story of Dorothy and Toto trapped in Oz and their journey to get home. It is kid friendly with just enough action to keep the older teenagers entertained. The main characters are Oswald, played by the talented, handsome James Franco, and one of the good witches, Theodora, played This Prequel really sets up the Wizard of Oz very well Morgan doesnt know everything will change once she meets Cal Savannah Rice Staff Writer Book of Shadows, written by Cate Tiernan, is a juicy story filled with magic. Morgan Rowlands, main character, is a high school student living in Widows Vale. One day she is an ordinary girl, living her everyday lifestyle but when Cal Blaire shows up, everything unfolds from there. With his very charming ways, gold kind eyes, perfect figure and olive skin, Cal quickly becomes the center of every girls attention, including Morgan and her best friend, Bree Warren. After convincing Morgan and Bree to come to his homecoming party, that was when she learns about Wicca and her unique self. During the party, Morgan discovers she is a blood witch, with that said; she was born with natural magic. Once Cal finds out about what blood line Morgan comes from, he grows an extra attachment towards her. As you read, youll notice the more Morgan is drawn to Wicca and to Cal, the further Morgan and Bree are from each other. Very weird things are taking place in Widows Vale. Morgan is in between who she was and is suppose to be, Cal being extremely helpful, Bree pulling back and Morgan is under the Cal spell. Morgan plays a character that is desperate to find her place in this world and as you read, youll come to know she is exactly where she needs to be. Things arent what they seem for Morgan Rowlands anymore. This book is filled with very juicy details that will leave you addicted. Book of shadows is the first book of 15. These books are short, magical books. I would definitely recommend this series for anyone that has an interest in mystery, fantastical, dramatic, addicting books. If youre into that, then this series is definitely for you! This book is so worth it! Bluffer Staff Pick Temper, Temper their This book is well worth the read Happy Gilmore (1996) most personal album yet Mitch Fox Staff Writer Happy Gilmore starring Adam Sandler is a great movie if you are looking for some laughs. Explore as the wantto-be hockey player Happy Gilmore finds his true passion in some unorthodox fashions. Every year Happy tries out for a pro hockey team and gets cut. As he has no job he finds out that his grand-mothers house is getting taken away for not paying her taxes. It is Happys job now to get enough money to buy her house back so that she doesnt have to live in an old-folks home where the owner is corrupt. While making some small bets with some guys Happy realizes that all of his hockey practice wasnt all a waste, he founded out that he could drive a golf ball over 400 yards. With an old golf legend coaching him, Happy wins an amateur tournament that gets him into the PGA Tour. Remember now that Happy has been a hockey player his whole life and they do not exactly act the same as golf players. Although Happy becomes a fan favorite, some of the other golfers dont find his behavior very amusing. With many people against him Happy ends up getting the house back and ends up finding his soul mate on the way. This is a classic movie and every person should have seen this movie by now. Happy Gilmore is just one of those classic hilarious films that will never leave your mind 595 Antelope Blvd Red Bluff, CA 96080 (530) 529-6400 www.shopcrossroads.net Bring this ad to receive $10 off a pair of Miss Me Jeans. (at regular price, coupon must be present) Expires 2/22/13 Album name comes from friction within the band Alexis Simpkins Staff Writer Bullet For My Valentines most recent studio album, also their fourth, is called Temper Temper. The name comes from the internal friction within the band during their last touring cycle. This is probably the most personal album theyve done. When the first song begins, if youve listened to Bullet For My Valentine enough, you can instantly tell its them. They have a certain kind of flare I guess, in their music that makes them pretty easy to pick out from other bands. Breaking Point, the first song on the album, is a great start with the electric guitar and hard drum beat. Temper Temper, the title track and first single from the album, is basically saying Ive had enough, dont mess with me or Ill explode and go crazy on you. The albums second single, Riot, is about kind of blowing off steam and just getting anger out (Are you ready? Its time for war, Well break down these f***ing doors, Smash the windows, tear down the walls, We wont stop til its http://fanart.tv all destroyed). Leech is saying leave me alone, stop coming around and trying to tell me all these lies because Im done with you, I dont believe you. So clearly, theres a theme in this album that for the most part had to do with the bands relationship and feelings toward each other recently. My favorite thing about this album though, isnt even really because of the music. Its the fact that they were having problems and instead of getting at each others throats about it and breaking up or something, they translated it into their music. I will say actually that this album was a little mellower than say their first album The Poison, but the lyrics were definitely personal and it was nice to see the band contribute that to it. Riot is probably my favorite song and one of the more upbeat ones on the album and singing along with the whoaoh-ohs is nice. Altogether, I think this album is perfect. I love Bullet For My Valentine unconditionally and this album was kind of different but in the best way possible. An Album to love unconditionally
