CALL: 812-677-0658 Petersburg man arrested for OVWI charge Friday night By Andy Heuring A Petersburg man was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped for bright-lighting a policeman. Shawn L. Parks, 34, of 604 S. 10th St., Petersburg was arrested at about 11:30 Friday night. Petersburg Police Cpl. Jared Sim- mons said he saw Parks drive toward him with his bright lights on, and then turn from Main St. onto Ninth St. and cross into the opposite lane of travel. Cpl. Simmons said when he stopped Parks and talked to him, Simmons could smell the odor of alcohol. Parks failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.086 percent for blood alcohol content. The legal limit for driving in Indiana is 0.08 percent. SPINDLER-STOKES ARRESTED ON OVWI, DRUG CHARGES A Newburgh woman was arrest- ed after she stopped in the middle of Highway 61 at 1:25 a.m. Monday. Danielle M. Spindler-Stokes was ar- rested for operating a vehicle while in- toxicated and marijuana-related charg- es after police stopped her on I-69. Cpl. Simmons said saw Spindler- Stokes stop in the middle of I-69 on the overpass and then go south on I- 69. Simmons said he saw her weave into the passing lane three times be- fore he stopped her near the 44-mile marker. Cpl. Simmons said Spindler-Stokes said she stopped in the road because she was trying to get her phone to charge. She failed field sobriety tests, but tested negative on the portable breath test for alcohol. Simmons said when he retrieved items from Spin- dler-Stokes' vehicle he noticed the smell of marijuana. He then saw a "wooden one-hitter box with a peace sign on it and marijuana inside." She was taken to the Daviess Com- munity Hospital where she tested pos- itive for benzodiazepines, amphet- amines and marijuana. She was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in body; possession of mar- ijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled sub- stance. Two arrested for public indecency in separate incidents By Andy Heuring Two men were arrested on charges of public indecency in separate inci- dents last week. David A. King, 56, of rural Winslow was arrested after police were called to the Winslow Liquor Store at about 8 p.m. last Wednesday to a report that an intoxicated male was exposing him- self to a woman and her child. Pike County Sheriff's Sgt. Dallas Killian said he was dispatched to look for King, who had left on a motor scoot- er traveling south on Highway 61 from the Liquor Store. Sgt. Killian said in his report he had seen King ride to Oak- land City, so he drove Highway 61 to 64 to Oakland City but didn't see King. He then returned from Oakland City on CR475S. He was stopped by a train on the tracks near Meridian Road. He said the train stopped and he decided to wait on the train to see if King had been caught by the train. While there he said he was looking under the train and thought he saw a scooter pull up and stop on the other side of the track. He said he could see a person walking around on the other side of the train and then King got between two of the rail cars to look on the other side. Killian said he then got out of his car and walked through the train cars and found King sitting on his scooter look- ing at his phone. He said King was so unsteady he could not stand without holding onto something and Killian could smell the strong odor of alcohol while talking with him. According to the report, King said he drank two beers. Sgt. Killian said he also noticed King's pants were un- zipped. King failed field sobriety tests regis- tering more than double the legal lim- it on a portable breath test. Sgt. Killian said he then drove King back to the liquor store in Winslow. He said the clerk told him King came into the store earlier and was immediately belligerent. She said he went outside the store and when a car pulled in and a woman got out to get a soft drink out of the vending machine King, unzipped his pants and exposed himself. Killian said he talked to the wom- an at the vending machine, who was about five feet away with her child in the car. She said she didn't see King expose himself but it looked like he was fondling himself while looking at her child. King was taken into custody on pre- liminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior convic- tion; public indecency; fondling him- self in public and dissemination of mat- ter harmful to minors. An Evansville man was arrested Sat- urday morning when he urinated in the parking lot of the Casey store in Pe- tersburg. David O. Robling, 56, of 6636 Kratz- ville Rd., Evansville was arrested on a charge of public nudity, public intox- ication and possession of marijuana. Petersburg Cpl. Scott Wright said he was sent to investigate the report of a man exposing himself at Caseys. Cpl. Wright said he found Robling, who ad- mitted having five drinks, but initial- ly denied urinating at the side of the building. But when confronted about See INDECENT on page 10
