July 25, 2014 • Milwaukee County Post • 3 Candidate forum set for 19th Assembly seat Five candidates scheduled to take questions Post Staff WAUKESHA — A Milwaukee man is being held on a $10,000 cash bond after being charged with stealing more than $33,000 from an Elm Grove woman who hired him to help around her house. Robert Juarez Nieves, 24, was charged with 46 counts of identity theft on Monday, a week after a woman reported discovering more than 40 checks missing from her checkbook. The woman also reported being told by her bank that one account that pre- viously contained about $30,000 now had insufficient funds. Investigators learned Nieves wrote out 22 checks to himself totaling $14,000, the complaint against him said, and 24 more going back to last December, worth more than $19,000, the complaint said. The woman called police when Nieves showed up at her house last week. Officers found he possessed cocaine and had several pills in his car that he could not produce a prescription for, the complaint said. He also was charged with possessing cocaine and narcotics as a result.
