Doades charged with domestic battery Benningfield charged with battery and possession By James Capozella Michael S. Doades, 40, of 3583 N. CR 1000 E., Otwell, has been charged with do- mestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years and April Ben- ningfield, 37, faces the same charge, and also possession of a legend drug, according to a probably cause affidavit filed in Pike Circuit Court. The charges stem from a dispatch on July 21 to Deputy Paul Col- lier at approximately 2 p.m. to a residence at 10201 E. CR 325 N. in Otwell. Pike County Sheriff Kent Johnson, Chief Deputy Dal- las Killian and Indiana State Trooper Hunter Manning in- vestigated the domestic call with Collier after Collier ar- rived on CR 325 N. and recog- nized Benningfield walking from the residence. Benning- field told Collier she had got- ten into an argument with Mi- chael Doades and that he had pushed her three times, with two small children, ages sev- en and four, present. Deputy Collier had Killian watch Benningfield while he and Sheriff Johnson walked to the front door of the residence to talk with Doades. He told of- ficers that Benningfield spit in his face and that he may have pushed her after that. He said that Benningfield has been mad all day and that they were arguing. He said he wanted to talk with his daughter, and Benningfield was blocking the doorway and backed into him. Collier spoke with Ben- ningfield, asking about the spitting, and she said she may have had spit come out of her mouth while talking with him, but it was not purposeful- ly. Both Doades and Benning- field were placed in handcuffs and transported to the Pike County Jail, according to the report. Deputy Killian advised Collier that Benningfield had Zoloft pills wrapped in cello- phane in her purse and she said she did not have a pre- scription for them. Benning- field was then charged with battery and possession of a legend drug, according to the affidavit.
