A-6 Wednesday, July 29, 2020 The Press-Dispatch www.icantbreathe.com TRUST GOD INDOT announces SR 64 road closure near St. Anthony State Road 64, between St. Anthony and Birdseye, will have multiple closures start- ing on August 4. The Indiana Department of Transportation said multiple culvert pipe replacements will take place. Beginning on or around Tuesday, Aug. 4, INDOT main- tenance crews will close S.R. 64 to begin replacing drainage structures. There are multiple locations for this operation. Crews will replace one pipe at a time and, once finished, will move on to the next. Each re- placement will require a full road closure for excavation of the old pipe. Once work is fin- ished, crews will fill the pave- ment cuts, allow them to com- pact under traffic and then re- turn later to finish paving. Work is expected to last for about three days, depend- ing upon weather conditions. During the closure, local traf- fic will have access up to the point of closure. All through traffic should use the official detour following U.S. 231, I-64 and S.R. 145. Ashley Jacinto arrested after traffic stop By James Capozella A traffic stop on SR 61, at CR 75, on July 25 resulted in the arrest of Ashley D. Ja- cinto, 31, of 4333 Quill Dr., Evansville, on a warrant out of Vanderburgh County. The 5 a.m. arrest by Pike Coun- ty Sheriff Deputy Jared Sim- mons occurred when Sim- mons stopped a vehicle for erratic driving and a broken windshield. The driver, Julie Baker, of 2045 Margybeth Ave. Evansville, explained that she and passengers, Ken- neth Baker, Ashley Jacinto and Andrew Sheets, were lost trying to get to French Lick. Patrolman Arnold and Trooper Manning assisted Simmons with the stop, which resulted in Jacinto's arrest af- ter her extradition by Vander- burgh County for felony pos- session of methamphetamine was confirmed. Jacinto was al- so charged with possession when Simmons found a pill lo- cated on her seat which field tested positive for metham- phetamine. Further charges are being filed for possession of methamphetamine. Jacin- to said the clear capsule with a crystal-like substance was "Molly," according to the re- port. During the arrest, Jacin- to said she knew she had a warrant and was going to turn herself in on Thursday. She also told Simmons she was positive for the corona- virus but didn't show signs and could not provide proof. Simmons found through his investigation that Jacinto did not know the procedure for the test and she then stated she had lied about being pos- itive and had never been test- ed, according to the report. When asking Baker and Sheets if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, they said there was not. A search turned up a bottle identi- fied as Baker's prescription for Tramadol Hydrochlo- ride. Baker said that he had been in a motorcycle accident and had the medication for pain. Three more pills were in his pocket. Simmons ad- vised Baker to provide proof that the hospital dispensed these specific medications for him within the next week or charges would be filed for possession of a schedule 4 controlled substance. Mabrey arrested for OVWI, bribery and intimidation A rural winslow man was ar- rested on charges that includ- ed bribery and intimidation after he crashed into a utility pole Saturday afternoon. Alex Mabrey, 25, of 6065 S. C-T Lane, Winslow, was charged with bribery, a level 5 felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated; failure to stop after a property damage accident; intimidation, a level 6 felony; and resisting law en- forcement. Pike County Sheriff's Sgt. Buck Seger said he was sent to 4139 S. CR 300 E., Winslow, to investigate the report of an S - 10 pickup hitting a utility pole at 3:08 p.m. Sgt. Winslow Dep- uty Town Marshal Mike Mc- Greggor arrived on scene first and area residents told him a red S -10 Chevy pickup had hit the utility pole and then drove away. McGreggor located the truck at 4166 S. CR 300 E. and said he saw Mabrey run into a garage at the residence. Deputy Marshal McGreg- gor returned Mabrey to the scene. Sgt. Seger said when he arrived on scene, he saw a broken utility pole, partially in the roadway, with electrical wires hanging from it. He said the S -10 had heavy front-end damage and both the driver's and passenger's side airbags had deployed. There was also electric wiring hanging from the bottom of the truck. Sgt. Seger stated Mabrey said he ran off the road and hit a pole. Sgt. Seger said he could smell the odor of alcohol while talking with Mabrey. Mabrey failed field sobri- ety tests and tested 0.29 per- cent for blood alcohol con- tent, which is more than three times the legal limit on a por- table breath test. Sgt. Seger said Mabrey was experiencing wide emotional swings, ranging from crying and begging not to be arrest- ed, to threating and cursing them, to offering them mon- ey not to arrest him. Seger said Mabrey offered him $200, $ 300 and $500 not to arrest him. He also made a threat to Seger. Seger said Mabrey told him, "I know where you live. I have seen your kids playing outside in the front for years. When I get out of here, you are going to get it. You are going to pay." In his report, Seger said he transported Mabrey to the Da- viess Community Hospital be- cause his blood alcohol con- tent was higher than the Pike County Jail will allow. A fter he was treated at the hospital, he was taken to the Pike Coun- ty Jail. Sgt. Seger said Mabrey continued to be verbally abu- sive to the jail staff.
