To inquire about this adorable canine, call 812-354-9894. study. Studying Psalm 48 -52. Sunday, July 19, Senior Recognition Day. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10 :30 a.m. Reflections of Psalm 8 What is the first thing that comes out of your mouth on a daily basis? I have been think- ing about this for a while now. I don't want to get stuck down VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Sunday morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m. We will be meeting in ac- cordance with social distanc- ing and will wear face masks. You are invited to worship with us. On July 4, we celebrate the birth of our nation. As you listen to the news, some claim not to be protest- ers, but that they want to de- stroy the present Constitution and laws of the United States. These individuals remind me of an enemy of Christ. Je- sus said, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" ( John 10 :10). Because He lives. John Manges, Minister WINSLOW CHRISTIAN CHURCH Corner of Lafayette and Walnut Pastor 812-753-3539 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; We extend a warm wel- come to everyone. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister a prosperity gospel rabbit hole, but I believe the first things we think about, reflect on, and speak in the morning will guide and determine our day. If the first thing out of our mouth is how horrible today will be, then today may be hor- rible. If the first thing we think about is the sin in our heart, we will spend the day captive by sin, instead of taking every thought captive. I love the Psalms, I love re- flecting on David and the oth- er Psalmists words to God. Sometimes the Psalms are a pendulum swing of emotion. But many of us can open the psalms and find one we can resonate with. What I love about Psalm 8 is it declares, poetically the glory of God as the writer looks over creation. I believe when we open our mouths from the time we wake up, to the time we lay down, to proclaim the glory of God, it would change the entire out- look of our days and our lives. In II Samuel 16:12, David says, "It may be that the Lord will look on my affliction, and that the Lord will repay me with good for His cursing this day." Though being cursed and having thrown rocks at him, David is willing to let the in- cident go, believing that the Lord would repay him in some way that would out- weigh the bad behavior di- rected at him. Are we will- ing to exhibit the same atti- tude when someone says bad things to or about us? It can be done with the help of the Holy Spirit, if we are willing to ask for that help, and be willing to submit to His lead- ing. July 3, Bible study at 6:30 p.m. July 27-31—VBS. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" ( John 8:36). I love America. Land of the free. But there is a price tag to freedom that needs to be rec- ognized. The crimson stripe in Old Glory symbolizes the blood that has been spilled at home and abroad to pur- chase freedom. Brave, young men set aside their hopes and dreams to stand in the ranks and fight for our liberties. How they would grieve if they could see how their sacrifices have been exploited: freedom to de- stroy personal property, free- dom to kneel as the anthem is being played, freedom to riot and pillage, etc. Even in the upcoming election, we are going to be choosing between freedom and bondage. Social- ism is the unspoken word be- hind the left. But however our American freedoms are manipulated by Godless politicians, there is a greater freedom that is un- touchable by any mortal man. That is the freedom from sin. This freedom, also, came with a great price. The sinless Son of God suffered, bled, and died on an old rugged cross to pur- chase this freedom for man- kind. There isn't a power on earth strong enough to bind up this freedom once it has been bestowed. We can have a clean slate, a pure heart, and a right relationship with God. We can be set free from the bondage and slavery of sin. No more bound to its practice. There is no fear of it ever be- ing legislated away. It is forev- er settled in heaven. Glorious freedom. Wonderful freedom.
