T his February the multi-brand retailer will grow its men's department into a two-level freestanding boutique dedicated entirely to menswear and accessories. Located across from its original location at Fashion Show mall, the 105,000-square-foot space will serve as the sixth men's-only Macy's in the US, though its product selection will be chosen specifically with the Las Vegas man in mind. "We will be tailoring our merchandise assortments to local customers' needs, with an emphasis on distinctive fashion and value," says Peter Sachse, the chief stores officer for Macy's. Classic American sportswear from designers such as Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Lacoste, and Ralph Lauren will be stocked alongside more contemporary offerings from 7 for All Mankind, Hugo Boss, and Lucky Brand Jeans. In addition to clothing, the store will feature an impressive shoe salon filled with leather brogues, casual boat shoes, colored oxfords, and sophisticated monk straps that feel particularly on-trend this season. Fashion Show; macys.com V THERE IS SOMETHING alluring about a woman dressed in menswear, an empowering mystique first popularized by Yves Saint Laurent's infamous "le smoking" jacket. Traditionally worn by men, the newest women's blazers add sex appeal with plunging necklines, cutouts, and tapered silhouettes. Now Kiton has reconstructed its signature men's jacket to flatter the female form, revealing women's blazers in an array of wefts, colors, and styles, including one that features an incredibly soft finish achieved through needle punching, a special embroidery technique that combines lace with cashmere into a single yarn. Most exquisite, however, is Kiton's dual-tone silk blazer (SHOWN), which features a single silk button, a blush-colored lapel, and an elongated neckline, and is exclusive to only Vegas and two other of the label's locations this spring. MARQUIS LEWIS, THE street artist known as Retna, has gained significant traction in the contemporary art community, with projects including a commissioned collection of murals on parking garage floor B3 of Cosmopolitan practically catapulting him to celebrity. Catching the attention of Louis Vuitton, the artist was asked to fuse his signature hieroglyphics with the label's iconic design aesthetic in a textile collaboration debuting this spring. Retna reinterprets the Vuitton cashmere stole, revealing a graphic scarf in a watercolored palette of aqua, purple, and cream. "I wanted to recreate the timeless moniker of Louis Vuitton with something new that reflected my classic style of merging the art of graffiti with the philosophies of ancestral scribes," the artist says. "Just like the art I created at the Cosmopolitan, it is something that moves effortlessly throughout the past, present, and future."
