On June 16, the Taiwanese company announced it purchased a seven-story office building at 611 E. Wisconsin Ave. More than 500 workers will be employed at the building, which, according to the announcement, will also serve as a Foxconn Innovation Center. "We are excited to establish our North America Corporate Headquarters in the heart of the central business district close to the lakefront and near a lot of the other developments helping make Milwaukee a city on the move," said Louis Woo, special assistant to Foxconn founder and CEO Terry Gou, at a news conference. He was joined at the announcement by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, City Council President Ashanti Hamilton and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. Foxconn will modernize the 133,000- square-foot facility and build collaborative workspaces, according to the announcement. In addition, the headquarters building will also feature a product showcase that will highlight the company's latest technological innovations and the most current applica- tions of the company's products in health care, transportation, security and manufac- turing. "When people come to Wisconsin to visit Foxconn, the Milwaukee headquarters will probably be one of the first stops they make," Woo said in the statement. " Employees at the headquarters will include teams of people who will be respon- sible for construction and logistics of the buildings at the Mount Pleasant campus as well as those who will work on supply chain activities plans for making liquid crystal dis- play modules and construction of the fabri- cation plant.
