A 17-year-old male involved in the incident was arrested and cited for disor- derly conduct, battery and resisting an officer. The May 23 release said "the male involved in the incident was not injured and did not desire or require any medical atten- tion. "While at the station, he apologized for his actions and stated he understood why force was used and that he should have stopped when instructed to do so." The release also said that the Wauwatosa police Department has received written notice of intent to file a civil lawsuit from an attorney representing the family involved in the case. Some of the key points of the use of force review, said Wauwatosa Police Capt. Brian Zeleski, were that the officer told the subjects to stop numerous times and they refused to comply and when the officer attempted to detain one of the sub- jects, the male pulled away from the officer and a strug- gle ensued. In a statement May 11, Wauwatosa Police said they received a call from Mayfair Mall security around 4:37 p.m. requesting assistance related to five male subjects who were inside the mall, acting disorderly and caus- ing a disturbance. After arriving at the mall, a Wauwatosa police officer saw several individuals in the parking lot and tried to talk to them, according to the release. A video taken of the inci- dent was shared on social media and by numerous news outlets, after which the Black Panthers called for a boycott of the mall.
