A native of Rutherford County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Kenneth Earl & Leora Hill Harrill. Juanita was a retired public health nurse, a member of First Baptist Church Rutherfordton, & previously served on the Board of Directors for The Church of the Exceptional. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Scott Carver & wife Beverly of New Market, Al; sister, Elizabeth Ann McCusker of Shady Valley, TN; 2 grand- sons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Carver, son, Daniel Carver, sister, Virginia Hill, & brothers, Yates Harrill, Wilburn Harrill, J.B. (Shorty) Harrill, & Charles G. Harrill. Funeral services were held at Crowe's Mortuary. Rev. Tim Marsh officiat- ed. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memori- als may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 839, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or Kindred Hospice, 5000 Bradford Dr. NW Suite 3A, Huntsville, AL 35805. Croweʼs Mortuary is assisting the family. DONALD SMITH Hugh Donald Smith, 80, of Forest City, passed away May 9, 2018. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Frank Smith & Pauline Lynch Smith & widower of the late Betty Vickers Smith. He worked in textiles for many years & was a US Navy veter- an serving aboard the USS Ohio. He was the previ- ous owner of Don's Cruise Agency & also loved golf, traveling, & collecting art glass. He was also preced- ed in death by brothers, Jack a& Coy Smith, sisters, Hazel Bailey, Betty Moore, Dot Wood & Betty Ann Bailey & step-daughters, Crystal & Candice Hicks. Survivors include his sons, Phillip Smith (Cindy) of Kings Mountain, & Jeff Smith of Forest City; a daughter, Deborah Bowen (Jimmy) of Rutherfordton; 4 grandchil- dren; 5 great grandchildren; & 2 step-grandchildren. There are also a number of nieces & nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice for your care & compassion. Graveside services were held in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
