JENNIFER DAWN GUFFEY Ms. Jennifer Dawn Guffey, age 33, of Forest City, NC, passed away on April 18, 2018. She was the daughter of Katherine Guffey Hoyle and the late Patrick Michael Vinci. In addition to her moth- er, she is survived by her children, Zachary Brandon Bumgardner, Macee Alanna Campbell, and Myrisah Jade Campbell; brother Jeffrey Matthew Green; and step- father Jeffrey Mark Greene. Costner and Bertha Smith Costner; three brothers, Earl Costner, Elbert Costner and Brainard Costner; and sister, Esther Costner Greene. Mr. Costner is survived by his wife, Lorene Miller Costner; a son, Dennis Costner and wife, Pat of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Susan Hubbard and hus- band, Keith of Shelby, NC; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston is serving the family. JOHN GILBERT EDWARDS Mr. John Gilbert Edwards, 88, of Rehobeth Church Road, Shelby passed away on April 18, 2018. Born January 29, 1930 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Gilbert Willard Edwards and Essie Howard Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Davis Edwards; son, John Robert Edwards; a granddaughter; a sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and JB Newton; mother-in-law, Alma Wood and son-in-law, Gene Hawkins. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Wood Edwards; daugh- ter, Pat Hawkins of Shelby; two sons, Dale Masters of Lattimore and Chris Masters (Areshia) of Aiken, SC; brother, Newell Edwards (Shirley) of Rock Hill, SC and two sisters, Jane Adams of Cherryville and Mae Grigg of Taylorsville; seven grand- children and seventeen great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Union Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. THOMAS EDWARD BROOKS "TOM" Mr. Thomas Edward Brooks, "Tom", age 44, passed away on April 19, 2018. Mrs. Skinner was preced- ed in death by her husband, Walter Reid Skinner; her par- ents, Lloyd and Stella Mae Smith Hamrick; a son, Larry Dean Skinner; and a grand- daughter. In addition to her parents, she was pre- ceded in death by husband, Clifford Leon Hales and three great-grandchildren. She was the wife of Sam Freeman and the daughter of the late James and Margaret Jean Turner Norman.
