Deadline 3/20/18 Skwierawski, Crivello bring long experience in criminal prosecution By DAN MUCKELBAUER Post Editor MILWAUKEE — Gov. Scott Walker appointed two attorneys with criminal pros- ecution backgrounds in Milwaukee to replace two retiring Milwaukee County Circuit Court judges. He announced Tuesday that state Assistant Attorney General Audrey Skwierawski will replace Circuit Judge John DiMotto and Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Laura Crivello will take over for Circuit Judge Jeffrey Kremers. Skwierawski has practiced law since 1992, serving as an assistant district attor- ney in Milwaukee County before working for the state Department of Justice in Madison. Her resumé includes more than 100 jury trials and more than 50 court trials, covering all types of criminal litigation, including double homicides. Skwierawski serves on the Attorney General's Statewide Sexual Assault Response Team and the State of Wisconsin Violence Against Women Act Advisory Committee. Skwierawski received her juris doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She lives in Milwaukee with her husband and their two children. Crivello has served as an assistant dis- trict attorney in Milwaukee County for more than 20 years, handling various criminal cases, including homicide. She is the team leader of Milwaukee's prosecution for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, which focuses on the dismantling of drug trafficking organizations, gun trafficking organizations and violent gangs. The Wisconsin Law Journal named Crivello a 2017 recipient of the "Women in the Law" award. The Milwaukee Police Association said, "The wide variety of assignments that she has challenged herself with over the years has garnered her well-rounded experience; which has forged a solid foundation — undoubtedly creating the opportunity for an exceptional future judge." Crivello received her juris doctor from Marquette University and her undergradu- ate degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
