It was the center's first try at offering this type class, and thanks to you, the class is a HUGE success! Those who are in the class now want to learn more and thanks to word of mouth, there are individuals that want to get in on the class! So, by popular demand, another "Spanish for Beginners" will be offered! The class will begin Thursday, September 7th, from 1PM-2PM at the Neal Senior Center, meeting every week going through December 14th. Like before, if you already know something about the Spanish language, this would be an excellent refresher course in speaking and spelling. Even if you were new to learning a foreign language, this would be a simple way to learn some of the basics of reading, writing and speaking the language. The class will include basic letter pronunciation, words, phrases and even conversation. You would be able to learn the basics of dialogue, such as when you go to the doctor, to a res- taurant, or go shopping. The class would even discuss culture of the Spanish-speaking world, including customs and ways of life. To pre-register, please contact the Neal Senior Center at 704/482-3488 and provide your contact information. This class is free of charge and each participant would need to bring paper and pencil. It will be a fun time, so please join us for a new and different type of class being offered at the Neal Senior Center! More "Spanish For Beginners" 30 If you are like most of us, you own more than you need…. too much "stuff ", and not enough storage space! You may have found yourself deciding to unload what you do not use anymore, begin to get rid of those items, only to find sentimental attachment to them and you end up keeping them anyway. On the other hand, you may be about to get rid of an item, then say to yourself, "I might need this later!" When you do this repeatedly, you are defeating your pur- pose: to create more space and have less "stuff ". Where do you draw the line about what to keep or get rid of if you need more living space? The Neal Senior Center will be conducting a seminar on "How to Downsize the Whole House". It will be held Tuesday, September 12, from 10AM-11AM. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Neal Senior Center at 704-482-3488. Pre-registration will be held through Monday, September 10. How to Downsize The Whole House Looking for recruits for the "Silver Belles", the "Golden Girls" and a new women's softball team for women ages 50-59 The Neal Senior Center is very fortunate to have two very fine women's softball teams, "The Silver Belles" and "The Golden Girls". These teams have been active participants in the NC Senior Games for a number of years. These participants of these teams also take part in many of the activities of the center, volunteering their time in providing service wherever needed. The center is hoping to expand the membership of both of these fine women's teams. If you are a woman between the ages of 60-64, you would qualify for the "Silver Belles" team. If you are a woman at the age of 65 or better, you would qualify for the "Golden Girls" team. Any woman who enjoys a good game of softball and whose age falls in either of these brackets would fit right in! For further information, contact Daniel Dedmon at the Neal Senior Center at 704/482-3488. However, you may be a woman between the ages of 50-59 and would still like to be part of a woman's softball team at the center. Problem solved! The center is hoping to start a third woman's softball team for this age bracket! Once again, if you are a woman between the ages of 50-59 and enjoy softball, then you would be most welcome to join this new group. For further information, please contact Angie Greene at 704/473- 0330 after 5PM. At this time, there is not yet a title for the group, but some titles are being considered. The team will have a captain and regular practice sessions. This would enable the group to also participate in the 2018 Senior Games and be a part of many of the activities that take place at the Neal Senior Center. So, get in touch and let us build a new softball team! Looking for recruits for softball team The Bible for centuries has advised, guided, informed and pro- vided comfort to many. It is the largest sold book in his- tory and has been translated into virtually every language spoken so that God's message may be distrib- uted worldwide. This special book has plenty of discussion and study value, which many people find is a fascinating way to learn about the power it holds. The Neal Senior Center will be beginning a Bible Study Group. This group will meet each Wednesday, Wednesday, beginning September 13, from 1:00-2:00PM. Dr. Melanie Smith will lead the group, which will include discussion of the books and scriptures from the Bible and how they apply to our lives. It will be an inspirational and informative time for all those who enjoy the Bible. Pre-registration is requested to get an idea of the number to prepare for. To pre-register, please call the Neal Senior Center at 704/482- 3488. GROUP Gift Shop Open 9-5 Mon.-Thurs. & 9-1 Fri.
