The 267 current volunteers—including many teens—fill essential roles by welcoming and assisting new patients, staffing the Gift Box Boutique, sewing or knitting for newborns and cancer and pediatric patients, providing canine therapy, visiting with waiting family members, and managing the Telecare program for the homebound. Since its inception in 1953, the Auxiliary has donated a total of $3.3 million for medical equipment and programs plus twelve annual health-related scholarships. Organizations such as Lake Area Free Clinic, Silver Streak senior taxi, Zachariah's Acres, Oconomowoc Area Food Pantry and Oconomowoc Senior Center have all benefited from funds raised by the Love Light Tree, the Spring Style Show, group travel program and the Gift Box Boutique. SPOTLIGHT GROUPS OCONOMOWOC ARTS CENTER Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the Oconomowoc Arts Center provides a long-awaited state of the art hub for the performing and visual arts for Oconomowoc and the surrounding Lake Country communities. The luxurious 755-seat Main Stage Theater's schedule is packed with dance, theatrical and musical performances, from local school and community productions to a varied schedule of professional programming. The visual arts are represented by a series of exhibits in the lobby area which are free and open to the public during regular box office hours and 90 minutes before show times. In addition OASD student art is regularly displayed in the Imagine a Day Youth Gallery. The beautiful bronze "Melody" sculpture displayed in front of the OAC was a gift to the community from the Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts. Oconomowoc is recognized as an arts community, as evidenced by our art galleries and studios, the popularity of the Festival of the Arts, and Gallery Nights that occur downtown each spring and fall. Local businesses invite artists and musicians in, to the delight of visitors, who stroll through downtown enjoying the sights, sounds, and flavors that Oconomowoc has to offer. The next Gallery Night will occur Friday, November 3, 5-9 p.m. FALL GALLERY NIGHT CHRISTIE'S AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR COMPLETE AUTO CARE 262-567-9967 Quality Honest Service Since 1940 252 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc Equipped to Service Hybrid Vehicles ASE Certified Mechanics We sell Kerosene 256258002 256342007 Almost 100 dealers bring a wide selection of antiques and vintage items for your shopping pleasure.
