Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com ©Community First Media Community First Media How we choose to look at life will dic- tate our response to the people and events we face each day. It is amazing how people react differently to the hardships and imperfections of life. The human spirit and desire to thrive will be stirred through our willingness to deal with emotional and physical challenges. There have been wonderful stories of heroic individuals who have achieved great success in spite of insurmountable odds. On the other hand, we have seen people give up on life and living because of some minuscule event that they chose not to handle. There is a lot of similarity between life and a boxing match. If you have ever been in or witnessed a fi ght you will understand that the winner is often not the strongest or most skilled, but many times the victor is the person who just won't give up. The "bul- ly" of life has a way of knocking the breath out of us and even bringing us down to the ground, but it is what we do when we get down that makes the difference. Are we going to stay down and quit or will we get back up and continue to fi ght? The book of Proverbs chapter twen- ty four and verse sixteen tells us,"For a just man falleth seven times, yet riseth up again….." Inevitably, we will all face set- backs in the form of a job loss, a troubled relationship, health issues and even the death of a loved one, but it is what we do after our time of grief that will determine our quality of life. During those times, we must pray for the strength and the tenacity to take us through the dark days of uncer- tainty. Life can only defeat us if we refuse to get back up after we've been knocked down.
