):C64*,
father — a man who, to her
knowledge, died when Liz was
young, along with her mother. In
season 1, she asked Red outright
whether he was her father, which
he denied — but of course, view-
ers don't buy it.
"It's amazing to be part of an
enterprise that people care enough
about to wonder whether what
we're presenting is real or just arti-
fice, and [that] we're going to later
tell you the truth," executive pro-
ducer John Eisendrath said in "Be-
hind the Blacklist." "It's incredibly
fun and rewarding to know that
people question every detail."
There have been numerous po-
tential clues throughout the se-
ries that point to the "Red is dad"
theory — not the least of which
was the usually unflappable
Red's visible devastation when he
believed Elizabeth to be dead —
but last season introduced a sto-
ryline that blew the question of
Liz's parentage wide open ... or
did it?
Shortly after the birth of her
daughter and her own faked
death, Liz is held captive by baddie
Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen,
"Banshee"), who reveals that he
is, in fact, Elizabeth's father, previ-
ously known as Konstantin Rostov.
Of course, no one knows whether
to believe this, either, including
Elizabeth, so the fact that we're
given a clear-cut answer doesn't
necessarily tell us anything.
And even if Kirk is telling the
truth, the fact that he's the father
Liz thought she shot to death as a
child (!) opens a whole new can of
worms. We've already been grant-
ed some insight into his motiva-
tions regarding Liz and her new
daughter, but there's still much
that season 4 has to reveal.
"He says he's her father, but is
he going to hurt her, help her, be
kind to her, or does he want to de-
stroy her?" posed Eisendrath in an
Entertainment Weekly interview.
"What I do promise is that Al-
exander Kirk and his relationship
to Liz will ultimately give us a far
deeper understanding of Red's re-
lationship to Liz in season 4,"
added series creator Jon Boken-
kamp.
Boone confirmed in "Behind the
Blacklist" that the current season
is one packed with revelations: "In
season 4, we're starting to really
unfold the mythology of the show
and actually reveal a lot of the an-
swers about the history of these
characters and what their true con-
nection really is."
Megan Boone stars in "The
Blacklist"
