Her latest sketch-comedy offer- ing, "Tracey Ullman's Show," gets underway Friday, Oct. 28, on HBO. It's already aired in the U.K. to criti- cal and audience acclaim, and now fans on this side of the pond get their own chance to watch this comedy legend in action. "Tracey Ullman's Show" fea- tures the titular star playing a broad cast of characters, some of them real and others made up. Whether it's actress Judi Dench ("Skyfall," 2012), Duchess Camilla or Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Ullman's imperson- ations are so spot on that you'll be hard-pressed to pick out the real person from the imposter in a line- up. Of course, Ullman can't play ev- ery character herself; that's where the supporting cast comes in. Tony Gardner ("Last Tango in Halifax"), Derek Griffiths ("Coronation Street"), Katherine Jakeways ("The Armstrong and Miller Show"), Sa- mantha Spiro ("Me Before You," 2016) and Gwen Taylor ("Corona- tion Street") are just a few of the U.K.-based actors who pop up alongside the series' star. She's been one of the funniest women in the U.K. since the 1980s, and she's not showing any signs of slowing down: the BBC has al- ready ordered a second season of "Tracey Ullman's Show." The first season, though, is just getting started on this side of the Atlantic, and you can catch its premiere Fri- day, Oct. 28, on HBO. Time for more 'Magnum': ABC has ordered up another re- boot. With all of the major net- works either launching reboots of classic series this season ("Mac- Gyver" on CBS and "24" on Fox, for example) or working on others for the near future, it was probably only a matter of time before "Mag- num P.I." got some attention. ABC has ordered a script for a reboot/sequel of the classic crime drama, with a hefty penalty at- tached if it doesn't end up turning into a full series. In the original show, which was broadcast on CBS for eight sea- sons between 1980 and 1988, Tom Selleck ("Blue Bloods") played Thomas Magnum, a private investigator living in sunny Ha- waii. The planned sequel, which is be- ing executive produced by "Lever- age" creator John Rogers, would focus on Magnum's daughter, who has recently moved to Hawaii to take over her dad's private investi- gation firm.
