The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, June 15, 2012 10 Cooking this week TV Media all it a gradual passing of the torch, from one generation to another. After countless appearanc- es on their mother's cooking show, a TV show together and collaborations on several cookbooks, Paula Deen's two sons are clearly making the move to build up their own individual careers in the me- dia spotlight -- although nei- ther man is moving too far out of their mother's shadow. Younger brother Bobby C "Home for Dinner" host Jamie Deen with son Matthew was the first one out of the gate back in January with his series, "Not My Mama's Meal," airing on the Cooking Channel. But "Home For Din- ner With Jamie Deen" is now giving older brother Jamie an opportunity to star in his very own show. mother's neighborhood, so to speak: the series joins the Food Network's Saturday morning lineup right after his mother's series, "Paula's Best Dishes." It also happens to be in his And he's getting the whole family involved, too, whether it's getting a helping hand from his five-year-old son Jack, his wife Brooke, or from "Grandma Ginny" (Paula Deen). The 10-episode series was shot in Georgia – on Tybee Is- land to be exact, just a few miles from his family home and from Savannah (home of the family's flagship restau- rant). Whereas Bobby's show has focused on lighter alterna- tives to Paula's trademark recipes, "Home For Dinner" is keeping its focus squarely on tasty, healthy and affordable meals that will make family dinners special every night. Each week, Jamie whips up some dishes that aim to please the whole family – be it a Taco Night fiesta or a cast iron skillet focaccia – in an ef- fort to show that a little time for Jamie to be taking on a family-oriented approach to cooking, since he's a working dad to both Jack and one- year-old Matthew. Both Jamie and Bobby have also played an important part in Paula's ascension to being a nation- ally recognized name. As teenagers, both worked as deliverymen for their moth- er's home-based lunch deliv- ery service. And again, as a family, they made the move to being successful restaura- teurs with the Lady and Sons. And it seems a natural fit in the kitchen can mean qual- ity family time at the dinner table.
