Summertime is always a season of anticipation and excitement. Trips to the beach and amusement parks, picnics, camp outs, family vacations, patriotic celebrations and fi reworks are just a few activities we all enjoy. Although the season has its lazy days it is also a time set aside for growth. The seed which has been sown during springtime is now producing fruit. Summer rainstorms and warm days are ideal for the maturing process of certain plants and vegetables. Who doesn't enjoy a freshly picked tomato or a cold slice of watermelon? When compared to the seasons of life, summer is likened to the vivacious years of youth. The springtime of new life has now developed a zest for living. It is during this time of life that people often experience the excitement of fi rst love and begin to make lifelong relationships. The long days of summer are equated to a youth anxiously pining away for adulthood. Along with the pangs of growth, also come days of dreaming and hope for the future. Summer is that pausing of time just before life begins to change. During this season, weddings will be conducted as well as the planning for the fi rst day of school for many. Keep in mind that the potential of growth and preparation made during this season will culminate into blessings during the upcoming harvest. The green foliage of youth will soon fade into the plethora of yellows, reds and oranges and fall will be in full swing. The good times of activity will eventually become ageless memories for the winters of life.
