Not long ago a friend mentioned that I should write about how Christians should do more than just talk the Christian talk, they should walk the Christian walk. As I usu- ally do, I searched the Bible and found that forty seven books used the work "walk" in one way or another. The word "talk" is only used in fourteen books of a good Bible. In the book of Numbers, the Lord told Moses to gather seventy men of the elders of Israel, who thou know- est to be the elders of the people and officers over them and bring them unto the Tabernacle of the con- gregation, that they may stand there with thee. Now the purpose was to give the same spirit to the Elders as Moses had and Moses would have help in all the work. So it is with the Deacons, Board Members, Stewards and Elders of today. "Dub" Dellinger - Age 93 Less Talk More Walk are ordained, elected or appointed to help with the church work, to fill a need. Visiting is a big part of the responsibilities of "help- ers" in the church. I have went from house to house many times, telling people about Jesus and helping the sick and shut-ins. I have trained some on how to visit and what to say and do. People need to SEE Jesus in you...less talk - more walk. Many want to just use the Ten Commandments and that is okay to a point, but love must come into being sometime. Romans 13:10 says that love worketh no ill to his neighbor, there- fore love is the fulfilling of the law. Now look at verse 11. "And that, know- ing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salva- tion nearer than when we believed." Time is running out. We should all be tell- ing others what our Savior has done for us. Through salvation, God grants you a home in Heaven and when this happens, you will think a lot more about the time that you will step out into Eternity. We can never do enough for our Savior. As age slips up on you, the cross gets heavier to bear. The days, months and years go by so fast and there is no retirement age for a person called by God. But you will slow down and sometimes be unable to do the things for others that you used to do. God sees your heart. You can always let the light of Jesus shine so that others may find their way home. We may not be able to make the blind to see or the lame to walk, but we can visit the sick, give someone a ride to church, speak a kind word or lend a helping hand. Less talk - more walk.
