As the Director of Employer
Relations for the Kellogg Career
Management Center, Mario
Vela manages the employer re-
lations efforts for the school and
its approximately 3,100 full- and
part-time MBA and executive
MBA students, and he works
to develop opportunities for a
54,000-person alumni base.
Setting the overall employer
strategy, Vela leads his team to
manage more than 200 national
and international company rela-
tionships worldwide. He is also a
co-founder of the Kellogg Enlace
Network, a Latino administra-
tion resource group.
In addition to his role at Ke-
llogg, Vela is the co-founder of
Amanecer Breakfast Tacos, a
mobile food start-up that is in-
troducing Texas-style breakfast
tacos to the Chicago region.
Both a food truck and catering
service, Amanecer Breakfast
Tacos opened in August 2015
to significant attention from
media outlets and customers
alike.
The company, which has es-
tablished key partnerships with
area business, operates out of
Now We're Cookin' Food Incu-
bator and delivers food out of a
Smartcar, the smallest food truck
in America.
Vela is the Membership Co-
Chair for both the Illinois LAtino
Council on Higher Education
(ILACHE) and Chicago Commu-
nity Trust's Latino Giving Circle
boards. He also organizes colla-
borative relationships among
various groups that support
the Latino community in and
around Chicago.
