Early in her career, Melissa
Ballate realized that everything
that works, in business and life,
is a perfect marriage of form and
function.
This was the inspiration for
Blue Daring, where Ballate, as
president and founder, partners
with people with vision in indus-
tries as diverse as automotive,
manufacturing, transportation
and private equity to bring ideas
to life through strategic thinking
and world-class creative.
Ballate specifically serves as
a senior strategist, helping orga-
nizations like Toyota, the School
of the Art Institute, the Chicago
Department of Transportation
and countless executives and
entrepreneurs understand and
leverage their purpose and
brand to achieve strategic ob-
jectives.
Ballate has been featured in
Crain's Chicago Business, Today's
Chicago Woman and Hoy! She
is also a co-owner of two retail
concessions at Chicago's O'Hare
Airport, the fifth busiest airport
in the world.
Ballate is passionate about
education and business and
gives her time to organizations
that nurture them. She serves on
the board of Junior Achievement
of Chicago and is one of nine
members of the Chicago Police
Board, an independent civilian
body that oversees certain acti-
vities of the Chicago Police De-
partment.
Ballate holds a bachelor's
degree in marketing, a master's
degree in information systems
and professional certificates
in business intelligence and
e-commerce, all from Loyola
University Chicago. She also
completed executive educa-
tion programming at the Tuck
School of Business at Dart-
mouth.
