I've been to Willow Creek, and I always get excited because that's near where the Patterson and Gimlin f ilm site was. If you would like to visit sometime it's west of Redding on HWY 299 and Willow Creek is on that road. Remember keep it squatchy! Every year here at Red Bluff High School we have what is called Holiday Classic. Among Holiday Classic there are many activities involved. There is Spirit Week. The dress up days for spirit week are on Monday it is PJ day. On Tuesday is squad and twin day. On Wednesday it is ugly Christmas sweater or holiday character day. On Thursday it is decade day. Every class has a different decade they have to dress up for. For freshman it is the 20's. For sophomores is the 50's. For juniors it is the 60's. For seniors it is the 80's. On Friday, as always, is class color day. Freshman are supposed to wear blue. Sophomore s wear green. J u n i o r s wear white. S e n i o r s w e a r . T h e r e are also nominees for spirit week. It is supposed to be a fun activity instead of serious, much like homecoming. The people with the most spirit, as per the students and faculty votes. There is also a rally on Friday December 18. At the rallies, normally, there will be games and fun activities. The rally is put on by the student council and the head of the student council, Ryan Gamboa, says "Everybody should be excited for the slam dunk contest. I know I look forward to it every year." Mrs. Somavia is the student government teacher and also works with students government to help them decide on what to do at the rallies. She also gave an opinion, "This rally is my favorite rally because the teachers do a skit. And I get to see all the teachers having fun and showing students how to have fun as well." Student government has spent a lot of time preparing for this event and all the smaller events that go along with it. There will be plenty of activities at the rally. The teachers will be doing a skit that is "funny and entertaining for all". Also, dance two will be performing and this is the only rally they perform in. Dance team will be performing as well. The classes will also be competing the class games, which are when students from each classes play a game and try to win for their class. This rally will take place in the big gym. All are invited to go to the fun activities in the big gym. Mrs. Haase is one of the most well known teachers here at the Red Bluff High School campus. She has taught here for 15 years starting in 2000, but she taught at Salisbury High School for 9 years before. Mrs. Hasse has been teaching for 26 years! Mrs. Haase is extremely spirited and participates in many of the activities our school has to offer. She also advises many activities for freshman through seniors. At first, Mrs. Haase started working with teen alcoholics. Here, she discovered a joy with working with young adolescents. Soon an opportunity of a teaching job came up, and she worked to get her teaching credential and took the job. "I have never regretted it!", said Mrs. Haase, teacher. Aside from being a teacher, Mrs. Haase also organizes many activities and clubs for the students here. She is the founder of the GSA, Gay Straight Alliance, club. This club promotes a safe and accepting environment for all students here on our campus. She advises our school's Connect Crew as well. Connect Crew is a club that helps and advises events for incoming freshmen or new students to easily settle into Red Bluff High School. She is also one of the advisors for the Austrian Student Exchange program. According to Mrs. Haase, her favorite aspect of teaching is forming positive relationships with students and making a difference. What she doesn't enjoy is when she witnesses students who don't believe in themselves and don't succeed because of it. Ever since freshman year when I sat in Mrs. Haase's freshman health class, I can safely assure you that she is one of the most positive beings I know. She believes in every one of her students despite the obstacles. The Holiday Classic faculty skits are Mrs. Haase most memorable experiences here at our campus. "I get so nervous, but I keep doing it because the students get a great memory," said Mrs. Haase. She admires how the all of the teachers work hard to please the students, and how it is a unique activity that the staff participates in. Being a teacher comes with certain challenges. According to Mrs. Haase, reaching a student who does not want to be reached is the most challenging. She enjoys making a difference in all of the students' lives. "It's so important to me that every student who walks through my door feel welcome," said Mrs. Haase. This statement is in fact true. Every time I personally walk past room 408 during break or lunch, Mrs. Haase's classroom, I would always see students sitting in there just hanging out. She provides a safe environment in her classroom that is welcome to all. Mrs. Haase has been a part of Red Bluff High School ever since 2000. She is extremely involved and one of the most teachers here at campus. Taylor Nguyen Staff Writer
