Once we find Him, we need to believe Him, embrace his truth, and live by it. "You are a king, then!" The one true church one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ: "For by one spirit are even sincere Christian people—may divide themselves into vari- ous denominations or churches, but there is no indication in the Bi- ble that God recognizes these divisions. Indeed, God makes it abundant- ly clear that in His sight there is but one Church, composed of all who truly trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. In I Corinthi- ans 12:12,13 the Apos- tle Paul declares by di- vine inspiration: "For as the body is By Cornelius R. Stam Religious people— we all baptized into one body . . . ." Again, in Romans 12:5, he says: "So we, being many, basis of the fact that there is but "one body" in God's sight that He exhorts us to seek to said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to tes- tify to the truth. Indeed, it is on the "keep the unity of the Spirit": "Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. "There is one body . . . " (Ephesians 4:3,4). How can we be- is not: What church do you belong to? but, Do you belong to the Church, the Body of Christ, composed of all who have acknowl- edged themselves to be sinners in the sight of God and have trust- ed in Christ and His finished work for salva- tion? come members of that "one Body ," the true Church? Ephesians 2 explains how Christ died for all, Jew and Gentile alike, "that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross . . ." (Verse 16). Indeed the Epistles of St. Paul show how God "hath concluded . . . all in unbelief that He might have mercy up- on all" (Romans 11:32), and offer to them recon- ciliation and salvation by grace through faith in Christ who died for our sins. The question, then, C-1 FILES OUT OF THE PAST Religious viewpoint thinking all are tools to make life better. It may as- sist with self-esteem and of- fer a degree of happiness. We think we know what hap- piness looks like but it is of- ten an elusive goal. When we think we have found happi- ness, bitter winds of sorrow, pain, disappointment, and trouble blows it away. When we almost find it we discov- er it exists somewhere else. Does true happiness "Self-help or God's help" Self-help and positive By Clyde Dupin keep moving on us or have we followed the trends of a 21st Century fun game that isn't happiness at all? The truth is God wants you hap- py and this is always a result of a true relationship with Je- sus Christ. Every human be- ing around the world wants peace, serenity and hap- piness. I am often asked, "How can we be happy in a world so mixed up political- ly and messed up morally?" Self-help and positive think- ing fail to deal with the real problem. It is a heart prob- lem. The heart will forever be homesick as long as it is separated from its Creator. Jesus shared the secret of happiness. Jesus said, "I have come that they might have life and that life more abundantly." The Bible teaches they that worship God must worship Him in Spirit and truth. When we move happiness from suc- cess, things and human re- lationships then we must go to the Spirit. An inner per- sonal relationship with God brings loving happiness. Our present circumstances may not bring genuine hap- piness but Christ is greater than circumstances. "Now listen, you who say, Adult Sunday school 9:30; "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on busi- ness and make money" Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will lie and do this or that" (James 4:13-15 NIV). Good advice from Jesus' brother. But if you do not know the Lord's will, then what?
