Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell announced that for the ninth consecutive year, national research has confirmed that PBS and PBS stations are the most trusted institutions and are considered an "excellent" use of tax dollars. PBS and PBS stations were also called the fairest network for news and public affairs. In addition, PBS Kids was named the most educational TV/media brand, the safest destination for children to watch television or visit online, and the top provider of content that helps children build reading and math skills. BLUE Joseph DeRosa is senior operations consultant for Gaming Market Advisors, a consulting firm with offices in Las Vegas and Denver. He has 35 years' experience in table games and casino operations management. DEROSA Bankers Life and Casualty Company, a national life and health insurer, promoted Berenice Diaz to branch manager of its sales office. Diaz has been at Bankers' Las Vegas sales office since 2006 when she was first contracted with the company as an agent. Renee Cotrell is public relations director, and Renee Guglielmetti is development director for Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. Both are internal promotions. Paula Farrell is troop services specialist, Glenda Howard is membership registrar and Jennifer Weed is donor stewardship assistant. All three are new to the organization. GUGLIELMETTI COTRELL MacKenzie Zimmerman is an assistant account executive with Trosper Communications. She previously was an administrative assistant for catering and convention services with Caesars Entertainment. Rebecca Coles is special events director for the Las Vegas location of Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace. She has almost 10 years of experience in food and beverage, and ZIMMERMAN 4 special events planning. Ryan Tsuda, M.D., F.A.C.C., has joined HealthCare Partners Medical Group. Tsuda will see patients at HealthCare Partners Cardiology, a office in the medical building at Southern Hills Hospital. Tsuda will work in conjunction with veteran HealthCare Partners cardiologists Drs. John Bedotto and Stephen Portz. Bahamas, has retained Las Vegas-based SK+G as its advertising agency of record. SK+G will provide brand strategy, creative and web development, as well as media planning and buying services to the resort, slated to open in late 2014. TSUDA COLAB, a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting the local architecture and design community, will open Thursday at 817 S. Main St., Las Vegas. The location will have an architecture and design gallery, and is the result of a collaboration among a spectrum of downtown community members. HESTER RICCIO RICHARDSON CBRE Group, for the 11th consecutive year, has been named the top global brand in commercial real estate, according to an international survey of industry professionals worldwide by the Lipsey Company. Colliers International was ranked second overall for the third year in a row. More than 50,000 property owners, investors, lenders, occupiers, brokers and property managers participated in the survey, which uses a combination of voting and focus groups to calculate the relative strength of commercial real estate brands among all categories in the industry. KUROWSKI BUCIEN JACKSON The PENTA Building Group recently announced the hiring of five team members and the promotion of a project engineer to assistant project manager. Tom Richardson has been hired as project manager. Donato Riccio and Tim Hester have joined as estimators. Robert Bucien and Shana Jackson were hired as project engineers. Mike Kurowski was promoted to assistant project manager. Kurowski joined the company in 2005 as a project engineer. Caryn Tijsseling, who practices in the litigation group and is a partner at the law firm of Lewis and Roca, is a 2012 board member for the Nevada chapter of the March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization that seeks to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Danielle Black is advertising account coordinator at Q ad|pr, an advertising agency and public relations firm based in Las Vegas. Black had been a marketing coordinator for over a year at Aristocrat Technologies. Baha Mar, a $3.5 billion resort development in Nassau City, the BLACK The Soggy Dog, a do-it-yourself dog wash center and pet supplies store in Henderson, is one of three finalists for a national Retailer Excellence Award by Pet Business Magazine and Global Pet Expo in the customer service excellence category. The awards are designed to honor outstanding independent pet stores. Pizza Fusion, which characterizes itself as a socially responsible chain, will open a restaurant this spring in the Eastern Commons Shopping Center in Henderson. The chain places an emphasis on local sources for its produce and builds its restaurants according to LEED certification standards. TIJSSELING The Clearinghouse Community Development Financial Institution, which offers loans for projects that provide community benefit, job creation and improved quality of life for low-income communities, has opened an office in Las Vegas. The California-based financial institution, which is certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury, will concentrate local lending efforts in the areas of affordable housing, community facilities, faith-based projects and small businesses. Heading up the Nevada operation is Brian Maddox, a veteran Nevada banker. Vox Solid Communications, the Las Vegas-based public relations and social media agency, announced its newest client: Brain Balance Achievement Centers.
